I was in the Scottish Cup final. In which I won, and also won the league that season. However the team I played in the final did not qualify for Europe the next season as runner's up!! The one thing is, they were an amateur team, who someone managed to go all the way. They are called Newton Stewart, any ideas?

didnt the SFA change it so that the team that finished 4th in the spl gor the euro spot instead of the scottish cup runners up.

I know last season when i was with motherwell i played league winners rangers in the Final and i never got into europe as i had finished 7th.

I was thinking that, yeah, just that rangers and celtic got champions league, 3rd place caley got Uefa, and fourth placed hibs got intertoto!! strange!!

The real bug surely is the fact that Newton Stewart got to the final!

They play in the South of Scotland league and are pretty poor in that - maybe 50 or so people attend their home games at the most.

Not to mention that it's probably equal first with Maybole as the most horrible town in Scotland.

What season are you in? It could be that the rep of the league/ uefa coefficent has dropped and the league has be given less spots in europe.

I know that with my game in greece this has happened and that despite winning the league i still have to go into the CL qualifiers third round.

Should point out that in previous season i didn't have to qualify, i was automatically in group stages.

In Scotland the runner up still goes into the UEFA Cup, if the winner goes into the CL. If the winner only qualified for thr UEFA Cup through the league(3rd place) then the 4th place team would get into europe ahead of the cup runner up(got it? stupid, I know). This has nothing to do with the SPL or SFA, it's UEFA's decision.

Newton Stewart should have qualified in your case, don't know why they wouldn't, amateur or not.
