How is it possible to get a different font (just a font nothing else!) in the game?

Copy the font you want from your fonts folder (making sure that it's TrueType, not OpenType) to the skin's fonts folder. Rename the original main font that's in there (eg "fm main.ttf" for Chameleon) so you can recover it later if things go wrong, then rename your newly copied font to whatever you've just changed the other one from.

The only slight downside is that you may need to fiddle with font sizes for certain fonts.
