It shouldn't matter how long you've had the game. The publisher should still take it back.

As long as they're still selling it and they've still got the stock, there shouldn't be a problem.

I remember with my 1st FM 2005 disc, i was getting it out of the DVD case as normal and it snapped halfway across to the middle, because I had it for 5-6 months (keeped it in perfect condition) I just threw it in the bin and went straight to the shop the next day. Didn't break the 2nd one though.

That's another thing, why can't someone just reinvent the DVD case so it doesn't play tug-of-war with the disc?

On a more relavant note on the scratched disc, if it isn't too badly scratch, then you could buy or borrow some disc repair solution. I think the better kits have a solution that you rub into the disc, a bit like windscreen quick repair kits.

If you have a damaged disk you could also get it fixed by sending it to scratch busters. See this link http://www.scratch-busters.co.uk/

I think SEGA are quite helpful with issues like this, why not contact them?

If SI wanted to help people in the future protect their CDs better in the future, why not use the newer type of DVD case that is used for Call of Duty 2: Collectors Edition?

It doesn't have the normal crappy plastic holder that keeps your DVDs/CDs in place like for regular commercial DVDs. It clips in and out to release the cd with very little effect and has the word "PUSH" on it so a little prod with one finger and out it comes!

It may sound like nothing and a bit sad to mention this but it's happened to most of my mates when they accidently snap the cd/dvd getting it out of the case. If anyone has played CoD2 then you'll know what a brilliant idea it is. (I hope no-one minds me mentioning CoD2 but it was completely relevant to my point).
