In a "general" sense, when playing against teams that attack hard, i.e. 4-4-2 with farrows on wingers. Should:
Mentality set to defensive?
CF - low?
passing style - (Not sure, direct? or short?_
Tempo - (slow?)
width - (tight?)
Closing Down - (lower)?
Time Wasting - mid?
D Line - any ideas?
Focus passing - depends more on formation, but probably flank?
With CA.
Now for playing teams after reranking that play defensively, would you?
Mentality set to attacking?
CF - mid to high?
passing style - (Not sure, short? or direct?)
Tempo - (fast?)
width - (wide?)
Closing Down - (high)?
Time Wasting - low to none?
D Line - any ideas?
Focus passing - depends more on formation, but probably mid?
Also for target man, would playing against defensive formation benefit from using target man more? What about playmaker? Thank you gurus so much!

No, it still dependson the instructions you given the players. Also how strong are you in the league, are you one of the better teams or one of the poorer ones etc?
Read the unofficial tactics bible thread uptop, and you'll probably be enlightened
i have read through the majority of the tactics bible. The way I see things are whether I'm weak or strong, I should react to the AI's mentalities: offensive or defensive. I was just wondering if there was a set standard. For instance.
I know for playing against teams taht attack you, you should go tight, defensive, low dline, Counter attack... But would i go fast tempo and direct pass or low tempo and direct pass? what would that depend opon? When you say depends on how you set up your players, lets just say i do a standard 4-4-2 normal.
