It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

a balance must be struck as without closing down, anyone will score scorchers on you (and i mean anyone).

i usually have my closing down increase up the park, with my DMC doing the dirty work.

Pressing for the ball tires out your players reducing their condition. This reduces their effectiveness on the pitch.

First you must ask the question what do I want to achieve from pressing the ball. If you play counter attacking then you do not want to close them down until they are well into your half of the pitch.

Also the players need to have a high stamina attribute otherwise high pressing will tire them out.

I would suggest closing down opposition players who have low decison attributes, especially if the opposition play a mixed passing style.

strikers 15-16

I figured this would work in tandem with mentality, creative freedom etc. the defenders holding position and discipline, while the midfield balance this out with winning the ball and the strikers just chase the the the opposition defence round like billio! Want to know what others think of this theory...
Why don't you try this, let people know your findings, then have some interesting discussion. It's a lot more useful than coming up with an untested theory and asking what people think.

Dear me whats up with that alimdemir guy. What business is it of yours to come on here and slate the way people discuss their views?! Everyone else has respectfully added their opinion and had an interesting debate. What does it matter whether ive tested it or not. Now everyone can test it if they want to. Its people like you that ruin this forum, oh and that warning for posting drivel seems well justified. Anyways apologies for the rant everyone, people like that grind my gears!

Anyway have tested this and it has good results on the whole, isnt perfected tho. Will come back with a proper analysis soon.

dude this theory ain't new. many people use it and many tactics on this forum use it (to great avail). i always do this, however recently i read someone's post that a striker with high closing down will frequently be out of position up front (admittedly it does happen). but i also like when my strikers put pressure on DC's. double edged sword?

In my opinion, it's not exactly "closing down" that is the issue, more "positional awareness" of players closing down if that makes sense.
