Well it's been awhile since i've been here and even longer since i posted a tactic but i feel i've got one worthy of your thoughts.
Some history on it...
As Sunderland i won the Championship at a canter, never any doubt all season that i wouldn't get promotion, but to be fair Sunderland are one of the favourites anyway. In the Premier they finished just outside Europe, not bad for a team tipped for relegation!
But record with my Nuneaton is far more impressive. Using other tactics i got them promoted from the Conference North to National to Division 3 at each first attempt. However, in Division 3 with not a penny to spend the step up was far to quick. My team were out of their depth and relgation was looming... then i came up with Lennons 07.
Three months to go i honestly thought i was down and i wasn't complaining, i thought i needed to go down to rebuild. But a fantastic recovery saw me climb out of the relation zone on the very last game of the season.
Th following season in Div3 was a massive improvement. I'm now inside the playoffs and even auto promotion is possible.
So now about the tactic...
As i said i ain't been on here for awhile and this is MY tactic, don't know if anyone else is using a similar formation.
I haven't tried to make a solid tactic because i always preferred cavalier style football. So i went for a normal back four, no arrows but the fullbacks are encouraged to push forward. It works well because they pick up a lot of cleared balls to maintain attacking football.
A dmc, a CM with farrow, 2 AMC's with farrows going wide and 2 fowards.
Looks like this
Team instructions are here
The CRUCIAL point to this tactic is the width. I start with this for all hom games and if the games not going well early on i reduc the width by about 3 or 4. In away games i may still start with this but in general it is better to go with th reduced one from the start.
If i play a team in the cup from the lower divisions i increase the mntality and creativity by about 3 and never have a problem winning. That is an improvment on before!
Other options from time to time is changing th focus passing at half time to down both flanks from mixed.
If your playing on a wt surface though increase passing by one, tempo and use the flanks.
The only other thing to mention is that i get my Ass Manager to do the Teamtalks and i always choose no comment on any other one. I just feel that one comment works good once but no consistancy at all. Choosing no comment does give consistancy because with both Sunderland and Nuneaton i often put long runs together.
Lastly, though surly obviously? Only use players in natural positions. Try to get AML AMR if you can.
I am really interested to see how it goes with other teams because i feel this tactic will always score goals!!!
I can't upload it yet because FM downloads is down. Feedback please?
Do you find you have a problem leaking goals, or is this offset by the fact you score so many? What sort of players have you brought in to play this style?
I rarely score loads of goals, but never have a problem scoring 1 0r 2 goals. Don't concede loads either, again either 1 or 0. So although the games sound close they don't really feel it, if you can understand that? I usually feel comfortable about the outcome.
THE IMPORTANCE OF WIDTH...
With Sunderland in the Championship i found the width as explained above worked well but when they were promoted to the Premier i found myself even in home games dropping the width by about 3 notches. But i ALWAYS started home games with the width on middle as i found it worked better to reduce it after about 10 - 15 mins if required.
With Nuneaton being two divisions higher than their starting position i used the narrow width from the start in all games. It's not being negative at all as i feel it makes my team control the game and apart from the 'odd' result i'm usually in control.
COUNTER ATTACK: Don't do IT!!!
With this tactic you should never feel tempted to use the counter attack.
With counter attack football your inviting teams to attack you then hit them on the break. This defence is not set up for that. It's a 'Have A Go' tactic.
Gabi80: As i explained Fm Downloads is off just now, can't send you it via email because your display email doesn't work.
Anyone interested send an email to me (address in my profile) and i will send it, ok?

Ok i've sent the tactic to a few as requested. If i sent the one i used with Nuneaton version please alter the width back to middle from narrow and change the focus passing to 'mixed'.
Only use narrow (width) in away games or tough home games.
