Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default 4-4-2 Diamond tactic (8.00) - fairly good but help needed

Recently I've been using 4-4-2 Diamond. I've read most of the articles and topics about tactic and created this one using different rules (RoO, dmc the same mentality as dcs etc). It is fairly good on the attacking side (could be better though), as it creates from 10 to 20 situations a game (especially if you have a good strong FCb and AMC) but the opponents have pretty much the same. Thats why I need help. Heres what I've done so far:

for home and away when heavy favourites:

Mentality - using RoO (with exceptions for DMC and FCb) is offensive from 11-16

Creative Freedom - low for defense and dmc, high for my AMC and FCa as they are quite creative (16 and 15) and normal for wingers, however this can change depending on a rival (lower while defending)

Passing - rather short as I want to keep possession (which is quite difficult while playing diamond) with exception for DMC who plays direct passes as he's not very skilled at this ability, and also to start the attack faster

Closing down - Now this is the problem I think. I have low closing down for my defenders, and slightly higher, but still low for DMC, AMC and FCb so they maintain their position.

Tackling - easy for my wingers to block crossing rather than tackling, and forwards

Forward Runs - Mixed for fullbacks, as Im playing at home, so I want to use them, and often for wingers(or mixed) and AMC and FCa

Run with Ball - again mixed for fullbacks and wingers, FCb and AMC, and often for FCa

Long shots- noone - my best long shooter is right midfielder so...

Try Through Ball - this is sth that also needs tweaking I think. I left everyone on mixed except for FCb (I believe crucial here), DMC and AMC

Crossing - Mixed for fullbacks and AMC and often for wingers

Marking - usually two dcs are on man marking

Tight marking - all defenders

Hold up Ball - strong FCb

Team mentality:

Width: normal - Two notches from wide
Tempo: normal - two notches from slow
Passing: mixed - two notches from short
Time wasting - two notches from rarely
Defensive line - in the middle of team mentality - two notches from push up

And counter attack ticked (not always), sometimes target man to feet (strong FCb)

Tactic 4-4-2 Diamond - Home
Counter agains big teams - 442 counter

Any ideas how to make this tactic better ? Especially on the defensive side, but any feedback is appreciated
