After playing FM til near utter boredom, I took up a game with my local team - Stalybridge Celtic. I managed to get them promoted four seasons in a row, going from the Conference North to the Championship. My first season in the Championship was a real struggled though.. due to the size of the club, it's low reputation, low wage budget, etc, I have struggled to attract better players. My one shining light was getting Lebohang Mokoena for 300k in my last season.

I am now about to start my second season in the Championship (2011/2012) and am looking for similar players - in terms of high ability, low cost and probably playing in the lesser footballing nations.

Any suggestions??

Honestly? Your best bet, and probably the most frequent answer you will get is to loan reserves from any Prem teams you can.

People like Alexandre Song, Fabrice Muamba (both arsenal), Lassanna Diarra.

But the problem is that by then many players may have plumetted from their dizzy heights, or reached stunning new ones. Im only plucking names at Song, Muamba and Diarra but they may all be first teamers by now.

Generally either look for youngsters in Prem reserves sides, or Golden Oldies (Teddy Sheringham First Season, Hasselbaink and Fowler Second Season) etc.

Oh, and my current budget is around £800k.. would ideally like a new goalkeeper, centreback and striker.. but any players who would strengthen my team would be good!

Thanks for the tips!

My key to success so far has been getting players in on Bosmans, but last year and this year I have struggled with that. Will definately have a look at loaning a few Prem youngsters!

matt derbyshire normally gets discarded. i signed him for free from swindon for rushden in about 2012 iirc. might be worth taking a look at but i think his stats had gone down because he wasnt playing for blackburn.
