People I would sell:
-Galagher
-Peter
-Reid?
-Roberts if possible but he only just joined you.

If you play Galagher and Peter right you can get 3mil for each (certainly 2-2.5mil), so overall you can have 11mil afer selling two fringe ok youth players. You can try selling Derbyshire on the newest patch and get perhaps another 4-5mil there.

You need to buy a striker to partner McCarthy (everyone seems to buy Johnson, and a TM makes sense, but I would recomend perhaps having two pacey dribbling strikers - Landon Donavon maybe?) Other TM's can include Joseba Llorente, Rolando Bianchi, Steffan Iversen.

Just finished August 2006 on my Blackburn game, gaining 5 points from the first 3 matches. But the injury jinx have been setting in on my squad early on.

What do you think of my squad and where can I realistically finish in the Premiership by the end of the season? Also where can I still improve in my squad. Any suggestions are welcome. :thup:

gandycoleuk, in my blackburn game ive also bought eneyema, pasanen and bale. All of them have been quite solid but took a few months to become consistent. I'd recommend selling a couple of players and trying to beef up your squad. Especially some strikers, Eddie J to partner Benny M?

Finished 8th in first season, would have finished higher but for losing on last day. Lost the uefa cup on pens to palmero and only scraped into intertoto cup. Bought darren bent, jean II makoun, basturk and luis jiminez (sp?) amongst a couple of others. How is every1 else doing?

I tend to use AndySAFC's 5-2-3 tactic as I help him to try and improve it, so I get rid of all wingers, so Pedersen goes (gutted to have to sell him), Bentley goes (useless anyway), Peter and Treacy. Good thing is, they are worth loads, so generally have that money coupled with the sales of Gallagher and Roberts, means a good wedge of cash. I get in Zat Knight, Martin Skrtel, Iversen and Eddie Johnson.

I can never get anything out of Tugay though...any ideas?

Just starting off my second season in a Blackburn game I am actually satisfied with.

Team is 4-1-3-2, but thinking of changing to 4-4-4-2:

GK - Craig Gordon
RB - Emerton/ Mehdi Mahdavikia
CD - Nelson/Khizianishvili
CD - Karl Svenson/Samba
LB - Warnock
RM - Bentley/Mahdavikia
DM - Julian Brellier/Tugay
AM - Mikel Arteta/Dunn
LM - Pedersen
TM - Joseba Llorente
ST - McCarthy

Got Mahdavikia and Hossam Ghaly on free's (the latter I just hope to sell for a £1m profit). Got Jan Schlaudruff on loan for this season too which I'm pretty chuffed about.

Finished last season 9th and have just got into UEFA via Intertoto. My main problem last season was defense and I struggled against teams with good aeriel strikers (Nelsen is very underrated on this game and Ooijer was useless for me). Goals came about quite easily.

Players that played well last season:

-McCarthy (29 goals)
-Llorente (22 goals)
-Arteta
-Pedersen
-Nelsen

Players that were rubbish:
-Bentley
-Ooijer
-Dunn
-Friedel

Giving Dunn and Bentley another chance this season and Dunn so far has been excellent as Arteta is injured. Hoping for a top 5/6 finish and that all the players perform. I should have got better results at home against weaker teams last season which didn't help my position.


Piece of advice - consider selling Savage. He is good but he's 32 and eats up loads of the wage bill. He also whined alot ("has lost confidence in the managers ability" for ages) and I'm glad I offloaded him at the end of the season - makes it way easier to sign other players.

Moggydave, agree totally about friedel, dunn and oojer. If you can sell Savage do it as he is a troublemaker! He always loses faith and doesn't merit his high wages. To get the best out of Tugay I played him as a more defensive minded centre mid in 442 but allowed thru balls and 13 for cf.

By the way im now in second season with Blackburn around March. Sold Corluka and Guardado to Liverpool for ridiculous sums (corluka 30 million and guardado 48 million although have to wait for an int cap for majority of guardados fee) Bought Kompany in the transfer window and expecting alan smith and pazzini in pre season. Should finish top 6
