Valencia in my game are trudging dangerously towards debt although they came in 3rd place and i wanted to get another centre back...so i pounced for Cristian Zapater who was worth 14.5...i bid 15.5 and i got him! He's currently playing in the Copa America now and he looks quality. A good buy? I don't feel i overpaid, he looks pretty good to me.

I think you mean Cristian Zapata He's very very good. 14M is a good price for him , he is very solid, and scores a lot from corners.
Is it possible to see how bad people's finances are? Not thought about this before but could be useful way to get players at a good price. How do you see this information?
And yes, £14m is a great price for Zapata - I had to pay £23m for him - very good player.
you look in their information screen at the finances whether its secure, insecure, in debt etc...valencia are currently "Okay" but they have a 32.5 mil loan debt so that could be a part
anyway i also didn't expect to get him that cheap...he's also only 24 in my game.
go to the job centre where you can see what manager jobs are available, down the right hand side it has all the clubs finances for the leagues you have selected. As fuzzyone says it's a good way to get quality players on the cheap.
A club in debt is always good...
