Default Quality or Quantity?

I'm at the 1st season with Newcastle, and I have 13 million € to spend on transfers and I'm wondering: Should I get van der Vaart for 10 mil (since Newcastle needs a good AMC) and some youngsters, or should I get some cheaper players like Felipe (DC 5 mil)and Gyan (9 mil) instead? What do you think my money is better spent on?

Also, since I'm on the subject, what do you guys think is the most effective tactic with Newcastle?

I would get Gyan and save it. See what you need at the jan. transfer window.

Is Gyan really that good? I don't think buying him would be enough for my Newcastle squad...

First, Samba is a must buy in every game no matter who you are. He's a superb CB, and is at least a sub for the top teams. He costs 800K-1.8M.

Next, M.Fernandez. Although VDV is sometimes a great performer, he doesn't beat Fernandez. Try get him for around 10M before it's too late.

Sell off some fringe players and you should be able to buy Gyan etc.

I would go for quantity personally. On my newcastle game i got samba, gyan and felipe in my 1st season and now are mainstays in my side, i finished 3rd in that season and have won 8 of the 1st 9 games in season 2.

Gyan's pace terrorises defenders and i would follow teeyougee and get rid of players like duff and smith to finance these purchases.

Unfortunely it seems nobody is interested in players like Duff and Smith, unless I list them for transfer, in which case the other clubs aren't willing to offer their real value in money.
But thanks for the suggestions guys, they're really helpful.

Try this:
Transfer list them
Set their squad status to "not needed"
Set their price at £0
Wait a day, if people are interested, offer the player out at a price, if they don't make an offer, repeat the same process

I'll try that.

To the guy who told me to get Fernandez instead of Van der Vaart, the only reason I'm going with Vaart is that he has 185 PA, while Fernandez has 180. Haven't used both enough to decide which of them is better.
