The prize at the end of the League Cup is a UEFA Cup spot.

If your board expects you to reach the Champions League (implied by the expectation of challenging for the league title), then they should not care about the League Cup at all, since you won't be using your UEFA Cup spot anyway.

im playing man utd and i won the champions league, i lost to barcelona 3-2 in the first leg but beat them on away goals in the 2nd leg, but while the board is delighted that i won the champions league, they can't get over that i lost to barcelona in the first leg!

In theory it all sounds great. But in reality the board confidence needs improving. Biggest improvement would of course be them taking in to account certain things

A ) The difficulty of the opposition & if Home or away

B ) How many of your players are unavailable due to injury or international duty

C ) Did you dominate the game but only lost on penalties

If certain factors are taken in to consideration and the board confidence adjusts accordingly, it'll be a huge improvement.
