I understand it is very early to be talking about FM09 but I feel I need to ask this question.
I ask as I feel we would get a better game. It would allow a lot more time for testing and developing also it would allow player data to represent the season we are playing in, not the season before.
I feel that the bugs we have seen and some of the new ideas just been new ideas (have not been developed to there full potential.) show that the game is rushed and needed more time to get it right.
I know why SI gives it there all to get the game out on the right side of Christmas. Lots of extra revenue plus a very impatient fanbase puts extra demands on them to get it out quick but I feel the only loser in this is quality and therefore the user. Not criticising SI for making money in this statement by the way, they are a business and that is the aim of a business.
I get annoyed when SI say yes there are bugs but the game is still playable in terms of buying/selling players, picking a team, changing tactics and playing matches. Of course they are right but the game is not the quality we want or have become to expect. That just makes it a decent/average game; they should be striving to make it better and not allowing competitors to catch up.
I hope we can have a good debate on this and feel free to rip my idea and statements apart. However it is an issue that SI should seriously think about (in my opinion).
with any luck it will be relased in late 08 due to the current game being good and just needing a few tweeks on the bugs. all they need to do is 1)fix the bugs on fm08 and 2)update the database. there isnt a great deal more than can do for fm so why not just make what they've got the best it can be.
Yes they should if thinking purely from the perspective of releasing a better/bug-free game. However, because every company is profit seeking/profit driven, they will want to release it before christmas every year.
I would like to point out that more time in development does not necesarily mean there is no problems with the game. Many bugs or data issues are only identified once the game has been released and that would be no different if FM09 was released in 5 years time rather than next year.
