It's not how playable or unplayable FM2008 is with or without 2nd beta patch or new patch. The problem is most of us will not start a new game only to find out the new patch comes out a day or two later and you have to start all over again..I spend hours before that first continue game click. I know I'm not alone.
If SI come out and say patch will be weeks or months, people will stop complaining and start playing. I know FM2009 will be out eventually but I know it'll be a year so I wont wait to start playing what it already out...
C'mon...just give us a realistic timeline and put us out of our misery. I have a game in a box that I paid for that I dont play and for anyone that has been a fan of this series for as long as I have that is torture.

No, they won't. Even if Si told us when it was going to be released, would it come any quicker?
The complaining wouldn't stop and if they said it will be released tomorrow and it got delayed, how many MORE complaints would there be? They don't say a specific time for a reason. Let them get on with making the patch.
I have the same "problem". I don't know if I should start, because later I would like to start again in order to have the patch full effect :p But please don't open more threads, we have already some open about the same.
It isnt neccesarily the case that a patch means a restart. It all depends on why you need the patch - and how bothered you are about keeping the save game you are already in.
Personally I've never restarted a game of my own purely because a patch has been released.
The disclaimer we use - "for best results...." is basically there because we cant guarantee bugs in a patched game arent due to the user starting before the game was patched.
I'm startnig a real game after the patch is out, but till then I'll mess around in FM. Do some international management, destroy chelsea, that kind of stuff.
I've started a game prior to the beta patch being released, added the beta patch and its been fine. Thoroughly enjoying my game and its been much more challenging from previous versions.

As others have said, whay don't you continue or start a new "just for fun game" in the mean time, You can still have loads of fun playing a buggy game instead of moaning about it.
As previously stated when the final patch for fm08 is ready you can start a "really serious, realistic save", til then just have some fun!
Im personally waiting for patch 9.20 but im having an awesomely fun time with my fm07 game for now.
fm07 was on his best last years february march becus the final patch came out then and i think fm08 is good but i think that the game experience is on his bets around february
