Default I would rather they fix the bugs than update transfers

The game is unplayable for someone trying to play a long-term game. Or even a short-medium term in my case (see my post in the Bugs forum about not getting the board transfer and wage money in 2010, for 2 consecutive seasons).

Even those who continue playing end up with a crappy regen engine that gives everyone bad stats so the entire world sucks at football in 2020, as well as poor youth development. Apparently videogames really are turning kids off football.

There's quite a few things like this (1/20 shot conversion ratio, impossibility of getting rid of a player even for 0 money, ), and yet you just know that patch 8.0.2 will be a transfer update and a ton of minor pointless fixes like the amount of foreign players in a league or the weather in India.

Maybe there's something I'm not getting here. Maybe I'm not SI's target demographic (committed gamer who's gonna play more than 2 seasons) and it's my fault for expecting a lasting game. But a lot of these bugs were reported before 8.0.1 and nothing was done, so I'm not holding my breath.

Its not an either/or situation: you don't have your coders researching transfers, and you don't have your researchers writing code.

What exactly is wrong with regens?

I just started a game and went on holiday until 2125 (I was away on a 3 day job with work) and the players seem fine.

Since you obviously have an inside view on what is being fixed in the new patch, unlike the rest of us, perhaps you could enlighten us on the other fixes?

I also dont think that the existence of a transfer update is going to affect the patch fixes, what ever they may be, in any way at all.

In the five years that I have been coming on these forums the second patch has not disappointed once.

Why don't you wait and judge the patch for what it actually contains rather than make wild assumptions before the event.

Playmaker, I agree that its silly to judge the second patch before we've experienced it, BUT I think the real issue here is why we've had to wait until now to be able to use it. All this without much info from SI. Like alot of other people, I feel very shortchanged here. Imagine buying a car that breaks down randomly, and wont work until 4/5 months after you've bought it... hardly seems value for money!

You mean apart from 90% (at least) of them having the natural fitness of an asthmatic sloth?

That around 10 players a year end up with "World Class Potential" but of those maybe one will actually become reasonable because 5 will retire before ever getting a club and the other four will rot in the reserves for all eternity because reserve player progression is also broke?

Or is it the nationalities. I'm running 15 leagues (all the major European ones, South American ones, and a couple of lesser leagues), yet for the past 7 seasons all the fantastic regens have been either from a generic nobody country or German.

Perhaps it's the positional statistics. After all, we all want wingers who can make towering headers and long throws but have the pace and crossing ability of my gran, don't we?

Or maybe it's the keepers who are 5'9 tall with a jumping of 8? And that's the good ones.

Regens are completely, utterly, useless. They have great stats in useless areas, physical stats are always useless because they're tied into CA (Of course there aren't any fast teenagers or strong teenagers or teenagers with good stamina, it's just like real-life ), or they come from such an obscure country that they retire aged 18.
