I've already started a game - but have some graphics packs to add.
Is it possible to do this or do I need to start a new game?

I did actually try to put them in the game before I started it but it hasn't worked
Looks a bit plain without them

Do I need to change any preferences?

Yeah just add your graphics pack into the Football Manager 2008 folder in My Documents - Sports Interactive. Then save your game and load it back up and they should be there...i hope!

Ok I'm in My Documents > Spports Interactive > Football MAnager 2008.

There are a bunch of folders that include the 'games' folder so this is the right place.

I'm putting my pack in the 'graphics' folder.
Inside I have a folder called 'Players'.
Inside this is a folder: 'Premiership League' (could this name be the reason?)
This contains a folders for each EPL club - which has player pictures .png and config.xml files.

just add your new pack to the players folder. dont put it into the EPL one.

You don't need to save and reload your game or anuything. Just put the facepack into the graphics folder through My Documents, then go to preferences in the game, make sure you have 'use skin cache' unticked and 'always reload skin on confirm' ticked, and just press confirm.
