They should work, FM06 only introduced a new 'low attribute' but the rest are the same (speaking of fm colours.xml).

What is probably happening is that you've kept enabled the option of 'skin cache' in preferences. You must disable this or clear the cache folder (it will regenerate don't worry), another option is to drop an empty file named clean.txt in that same folder. No need to quit the game, all this can be done while it's running.

BTW, there's a post further down this page here

I have done all of this what you have said to do and yet it doesn't work for me. Changed everything exactly as the other guys put it as far as the colour changing thing goes at the top of the post.

Iv tried it with and without the skin cacheing on. Makes no difference. I am saving as xml and in the correct folder and still nothing.

Have you switched languages ? There's a folder for each language used, have you erased 'cache' directly or one of these only ?

What skin are you using ? If not using default, you should check on the one you're using as it might have that same 'fm colours.xml' file.

What screen are you expecting to change ?
Do you see changes in any of the 4 ranges in that screen ?

I was going to put some code and forgot, too bad you can't edit your own posts.

Here.
<colour name="normal attribute" red="255" green="255" blue="255" />, Is White
<colour name="normal attribute" red="000" green="000" blue="000" />, Is Black

The lines to modify, to obtain a Traffic Light are: (traffic light: red,yellow,green)

FM2005 has 3 levels or ranges:

<colour name="normal attribute " red="255" green="000" blue="000" /> <!-- (01-09) Red -->
<colour name="good attribute " red="255" green="255" blue="000" /> <!-- (10-14) Yellow -->
<colour name="excellent attribute" red="000" green="255" blue="000" /> <!-- (15-20) Green -->

FM2006 has 4 levels or ranges:

<colour name="low attribute " red="128" green="128" blue="128" /> <!-- (01-05) Grey -->
<colour name="normal attribute " red="255" green="000" blue="000" /> <!-- (06-10) Red -->
<colour name="good attribute " red="255" green="255" blue="000" /> <!-- (11-15) Yellow -->
<colour name="excellent attribute" red="000" green="255" blue="000" /> <!-- (16-20) Green -->

You get the idea, then just change the values "000-255" if needed.

in case anyone doesn't know how to change the values in the player and staff profiles file so its 1-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-20 for example
Change the 16 to 15, the 11 to 10...
You need to edit these...

<!-- attribute colouring -->
<integer id="exca" value="16" /> <!-- excellent threshold -->
<integer id="excn" value="11" /> <!-- normal threshold -->
<integer id="excl" value="6" /> <!-- low threshold -->

At the top of player profile.xml in the panels folder.
