I usually always play with Barqa or Man Utd and I'm bad as I always can't get my formation and strategy right and I always do badly. So I got fedup and instead of playing the top teams with great players and loads of cash, I chose AC Milan (still a top team) with -8 points penalty and loads of old defenders I see.
I'm now using a formation with
1 lone striker up front
2 amc's behind him
1 mc behind the 2 amc's
1 dmc + 2 wingbacks with farrows to the amr/aml position
2 dc's
1 sweeper
I signed 3 new defenders with the 9 million pounds I have. I played through few friendly matches and I've been getting results like
4-0
4-1
4-1
11-0
What do you think of the formation? What is first touch? And what does forward runs set to always and mixed and rarely means? Thanks.
Also, what does creative freedom means? What about trying through balls? If I set a player with not so good passing and creativity, will they tend to lose possesion more oftenly?
To be blunt I wouldn't touch that formation. I am Milan at the moment and playing 442 with a very attacking formation. It's quite easy really as I had 106m to spend (2010)
Just looking at your positional layout it looks like a defensive tactic, which is also supported by the shutouts you've had in all of your previous games. But the sheer number of goals you've scored makes it looks like an offensive tactic. That depends, of course, if you were playing against some credible opposition.
The only problems I see with that formation (Milan have the same issue in reality) are that it's very narrow and condensed, so you could try to play wide. Also, the WB's will probably be run ragged by moving constantly up and down the field with no wide support.
With only one striker (I'm assuming it's Gilardino or Inzaghi, but Oliviera is also good) I'd play with with some through balls, but the target man setting (if you're using a target man) should probably be set to head.
BTW, First Touch is the ability to trap and control the ball when it is passed to you. A player with good first touch can beat a man with one good turn or touch.
Forward runs dictate how agressively or how often a player moves forward. For example, a CB usually has forward runs set at "rarely" because he isn't supposed to move up and get out of position. A striker typically has forward runs set at "often" because they are your primary atttacking threat.
Yes, the wingbacks basically running up and down all the time. I tried to fix it with the 2 amc's having sarrows to the amr/aml position. I'd play a few more games and see how it works. Thanks for the swift reply guys. Thanks.
