It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

What's their Closing Down at? If it's medium or high, then it might be an idea to put it to low so they should theoretically hold their position more.

I have this problem too. It's very annoying. My fullbacks go central even if my central defenders are already there.

And I don't buy the suggestion to change their closing down -- I want my fullbacks to close down often but not centrally. Zonal marking + high closing down for fullbacks = stay in your zone and close down the ball when it gets there. At least that's what it should be.

What are the mentality settings of the back 4, what are the closing down instructions and what is the DL, are you employing a DMC?

Thanks for replying Rashidi. Ok well let me give you the setup...

FB
---
Mentality - 6
CD - 13
DL - 9
FWR - Tried both RARE/MIX
TM - Tried both YES/NO

Team Mentality - 12 (9) when away

Im playing 4123 as now I have pulled a mc back to the DMC position and haev 2 central MC's and the trident attack. Im thinking maybe to sarrow the 2 central MC's perhaps? </BLOCKQUOTE>

What about the CD for the back 4..you mention only the fullback....give me the closing down, mentality, and dl only for the back 4 and the DMC

Reduce CD of central defenders to 6 and 8 respectively, fullbacks can go up to 12. Try that

First I don't believe you need to mirror cd to dl.. when playing with a dm you need a deep line anyway..and the highest you can go with deep is 5. So your Closing Down instructions will fall around the same area..its only a coincedence.

Your Closing down instructions are to high for your CDs...everyone is going to go for the same ball. My CD for my fullbacks is 15 and they still stay in position. Furthermore, they have FWR on often and I am using a 433. My backline stays in shape.

Your DLine and your closing down instructions..seem to pack a lot of people into a small area going for the same ball.

Sounds to me like your closing down instructions are all wrong...I won't go into why...just read my thread on creating effective tactics..its linked anyway up there in the new links thread Cleon has created.

Read that first and look at Asmodeus thread on creating a solid back 4...hmm I thought you had all of this sorted in your tactic?
