managers use a 4-4-2 system through their whole career, but on this game it seems 4-4-2 will do for a season, then after that it just stops working.
i've played a 4-4-2 or my first season, not the smae one week in week out, i've tweaked it every game and at half time in games, but now the second season is half way done, my team is stronger yet i am losing to teams who last season i thrashed. a lot of people have this second season syndrome thing and i think its a major flaw in the game.
Every tactic that has been created has been very very inconsistant for me, ive no idea why.
Si has put far too much importance into tactics for me, as celtic i should be able to play a flat 4-4-2 and still finish in the top 3, the players are not idiots, they know there own strenghts and despite what the manager tells them, in real life i susupect they do as they please, which is what they are good at.
I really cant get any sort of consistancy from tactics on fm07, its become far too much the main point of fm for me its very dissapointing.
I understand the frustration to a certain level, I don't have a great deal of time to play the game myself these days and find that I have to spend a great deal of playing time looking and thinking about all aspects of the game.
It takes me on average 29 hours of playing time to complete a season. That's a lot of time, and I don't really have it anymore.
However, I know fine well that if the game were made so that it was just a game of "buy the best players", I'd be equally frustrated and very easily bored of it.

I agree that it's now a very tactically intense game. I'm genrally quite impatient, i want to play matches one after another and ideally finish at least one season in a weekend. Its taken alot of pace out of the game and is very time consuming to get right.
For me it is the most frustrating part of the game. Personally i don't find it an entertaining challenge. I much prefered the 06 version, definatly thinking of installing that again.

Its not a flaw, because you are a very strong side other teams are likely to shut up shop against you and defend very deep. In other words they try to frustrate you and hit you on the counter attack. This is very realistic with RL football and something you see week in week out.

I watch a lot of games in Full match mode.
Actually I was whizzing through the games a bit (OK relatively!) quicker before the patch was released, but since it came out I'm probably watching every second game on full match mode.
Not helping me much at the moment though! Just can't seem to get a grip on things again.

In RL Man Utd play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 and they do damn good :-)
When I try to recreate their tactic... It's like **** tbfh. This game is unsuitable to recreate any true tactic :-)
Barca is using same tactic with slight modifications throughout the season but in FM07 is impossible imo :-(
We have to beat AI tactics but that is also FUN in this GAME and I enjoy it very much
While Man u might use the same shape week in week out, they do not use the same isntructions in every game. This is the same on FM, you just need to adpat slightly to accomodate the opposition thats all. Nothing major just thew odd mentality tweak here and there

Ah I understand.
I tend to watch highlights only, then watch full games after I've played them. I seem to find more problems and solutions that way, rather than watching real time games. Strange but effective for me
