How would you play my Hammers??

As the new game isn't far away I decided to have a little fun with the Editor on my final game as West Ham before FM2008 comes out.

I edited in the planned transfers of Parker, Ljungberg, Faubert, Wright and Bellamy and gave myself 30 M to buy new players of my own.

I think I have a pretty good squad now but either they are all too young, I have an embarrassment of riches or I am playing the wrong formation to the get the best out of them because in my first season I sit 11th with 5 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses.

At present I play a 4-4-2 Diamond.

RB Neill
LB Upson
CB Micah Richards
CB Anton Ferdinand
DM Lucas
RM Bellamy
LM Ljungberg
AM Cardenas
F Roland Bianchi
F Ashton

Makoun, Digard, Parker, Noble, Green, Guardado, Etherington, Boa Morte, Gabbidon, McCartney.

Too many defensive midfielders me thinks??

Can anyone help get the best out of them?

swap freddy to the right hand wing.. and stick guardardo on the left... bellamy should be backup and shock substitute only

and cardenas isnt good enough... stick lucas there... trust me .. he's brilliant.. and have either makoun who's unbelievable or parker as your dmc...

stick both wingers to cross in to the target man and set bianchi as target man and all crosses to head .. and get a bleeding lb for godsake lol .. use mcCartney in the meantime.... he's pretty damn solid

Had played Lucas at AM for the odd game but wasn't sure if he was good enough as a permanent fixture because under his position his AM Stats say "competent" rather than "natural" or "accomplished"

Same with Guardado, as a "left midfielder" he is "awkward" but as an attacking midfielder he is "natural". Maybe use a farrow with him?

As for the left back, erm yes I know. I'm hoping Uncle Eggy allows me more funds. I'd like to get Chiellini in or a cheaper option Shorey or Baines. Which would you go for? Bale turned me down.

buy Baines imo

and yes use arrow with guardado should work better

baines is better and younger .. if none of them .. get pasqual.. genius..

dont worry to much about the positioning ..especially guardardo... he plays like a monster in that role... but yes an arrow forward is a good bet if it works for your formation

Badly. make muppety decisions, poor substitutions, have no imagination and rely on wonder-boy to save you at the end of the season.

Seriously? Get a good RM. Ljungberg isn't great, neither is Bellamy. Reccommend someone like Franco Semioli or Shaun Wright-Phillips. Buy Baines or Pasqual, and use Guardado as ML with an arrow pushing forward.

Thanks guys. Just won 2-0, 4-0 and 3-0 with your advice.

Ashton is banging them in for fun now I have swapped him over and put Bianchi as a TM.

Only thing is Lucas stats haven't been great as an AM but I am getting Tevez back from injury soon so I may use him as an AM and move Lucas back into DM?

I found that Bowyer did well as an AM but the end product was far and between.

If Tevez goes in transfer window I'm thinking of bidding for Van Der Vaart as an AM. What do you think?
