And I think we all agree shortlisting players from your team before you leave and then buying them as you have opportunity is valid. It's voiding contracts you signed because you can that's unethical at best.

If it's cancelling a proposed transfer before you leave, and then signing said player for your new club, if it's not illegal in real football, it should be. It's borderline tampering. I could see a club winning a lawsuit if it were to happen in life. Not that CM isn't life, because it's certainly mine.

However, buying or bringing him in once you're established at the new club, without the tampering, I see no problem with, as it's part of football now anyway, is it not?

this kind of thing definitely happens in reality. a certain scottish former leeds manager apparently did this with a player when he left us for spurs. it was a loan deal with an option to buy but he (very allegedly) had a quiet word with the player before he quit, and the player turned down the option to sign for leeds and signed for spurs instead.

of course, it's not very nice... i like to leave my old clubs in as strong a position as possible so i wouldn't do it, personally.

That's a good example of a case that did happen, but I reckon he only went to Spurs 'cos they love injured players so much.
