Another year has passed in the LLM forum, and after reading King Jeff's History of LLM I thought I'd do a similar thing with the threads over the last year.
In some ways the concept of the LLM forum has started to die out. Not surprisingly when you think CM3 was released nearly four years ago. In some ways 2002 has been the year of the update, and love them or hate them there has been some good ones. We even had a daily update thread for a while when things got too hectic. Luckily the general discussion threads have still been trickling through, and some of the new regulars have provided a new slant on things.
OK, on with the links, I've split things up into five categories, On-Topic/Discussion, Updates, The LLaMa Challenges, Off-Topic, and some good old-fashioned Flamings.
On-Topic/Discussion:
Like I said, not much new to discuss this year, but the Scout Where You Can Tour guideline was a hot potato. Also a mention to Rekwob who earlier in the year tried starting a new discussion topic every day. Didn't last long did it?
Three of the best Scout Where You Can Tour threads are here, here, and here
Links to LL clubs home pages. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Useful for knowing more about the ramshackle outfit you manage in some unknown corner of the world.
Updates and Discussion was a pretty deep and meaningful discussion on where the Forum was going and how the newbies and regulars are treated.
Updates:
There's been a few. Most don't get further than a couple of seasons, but there's been some good ones in there as well. Hardly any seem to be in England, due to the big TV money that spoils a good challenge. The Scottish, Belgian, and Welsh leagues have been pretty popular this year. Here's ten of the best.
Also the Daily Update Thread ran for a while before we went back to individual threads.
LLaMa of the Month:
The ill-fated challenges ran for two months in the summer before general consensus saw them killed off. Good fun while they lasted though. The basis was you spent 5 seasons on the challenge, to see who was the best (or worst) at them. Credit to Donald for starting the ball rolling with this.
July's challenge was with Leigh RMI, and discussed here, and here. Results were here.
Iajafer's I'm done with challenges sparked off a few people's feelings about the challenges, which abruptly came to an end. (Then he tries to start a Roma challenge...I don't know. Call them what you will, but we all love a flaming. Trust me, from scanning through all the threads in a year, there's a fair amount of crap, and sometimes people won't take no for an answer. Which is nothing a good bonfire and a six-pack of beers won't solve.
Yeah, you've missed one major update thread, your own. Robbo's thing is well worth a read

I thought about it! But it looks a bit cocky putting your own threads in the top 10 doesn't it?

Not really mate, when I think any number of people have said that your thread and LFCfan's thread were the first two they looked for when coming into LLM
Otherwise, great idea and I'll read all of the threads when I get a chance
My 'quote of the year award' goes to the following:

quote:
Oi **** face sukc my dick the mods dick then go and **** you dad you poofy poofta from poof land who like to touch deogs with the clap.

I'll never stop laughing about that one!
There was an obvious candidate for the BBQ section as well, but I deliberately left him out because he didn't deserve the credit...he's already tried to ruin KJ's History of LLM thread before he got banned. He shall remain nameless.
I'd forgotten the Sutton United one Yet another example of how I tend to discuss LLM Rules/Guidlines instead of just summarily banning arses, though
Got to say I've thoroughly enjoyed reading back over them all.
