Default The Last Campaign

The San Marino Challenge got me out of my previous campaign that had taken me from Leigh RMI to Queen's Park. When the challenge ended I decided to start a new, and last, CM3 campaign. I had enjoyed Scotland as Queen's Park in that I had some knowledge of the big stars mentioned in the news items so Idecided to start the new game in the British Isles. A number of people had mentioned East Stirling, and since it didn't look too easy that's where I went.
As the first season began I was stunned to find a world-class scout unemployed and interested in East Stirling. And he came for what I could pay. Absolutely amazing. With no transfer funds available it was obvious he would be wasted scouting anything but the youth market. SO that's where I sent him, hoping he would complete his search before any of the big boys noticed him and took him away.
Next issue, of course, was coaches. Within two months I had a full staff with most of them being player/coaches who I hoped could also help on the pitch. We spent the first three months with so many kids on trials it was very hard to keep track of. Before I knew it the squad was a bulging 50 players with an average age for the entire squad of 19.7.
In the first 10 league matches we only allowed 2 goals and I was stunned to find these kids and a couple of veterans in second place, but out of all the cups. We finished the season in first place by 1 point along with Montrose and, as expected during the summer break my super scout moved to the premiership, my best striker/coach retired as a player and was immediatly snapped up as a scout for Celtic.
Not too far in debt and still a full squad, one bosman D/M R replaced the retiring striker and it's on to the second division.

The Scottish Leagues are In my option one of the best Lower leagues in the game.

The Jump from Division 1 to the SPL is amazing

If you get that far you will see

Halfway thru the second season. Two of my player coaches retired as players but refused to sign new contracts as coaches no matter how much I offered as a signing bonus and, as expected, both were signed by premiership teams. One of them will be sorely missed as his coaching stats were some of the best I have ever seen. The increase in these stats in the one year he played and coached was phenomenal. Oh well, bye bye Mr. Supercoach.
Needing money I put all my attention on the cup matches which paid prize money and managed to slowly accumulate a transfer fund of almost 100k which I'm going to have to use to attract replacement coaches.
After a poor league start East Stirling has slowly climbed up the chart to flirt with the promotion places but a lot of the season remains.

A shock 1-0 win over Hearts in the league cup Third round bouyed up everyone's spirit. But the biggest challenge is fairly unusual. My squad is maxed out at 50 players almost all under 21. This is the group recommended last year by the world class scout I had for until he was lured away. My coaches think they are all wondereful with varying degrees of great futures ahead of them. The problem is that they are all beginning to need first team experience to progress and I can't figure out which to let go in order to provide room for newly discovered talent. A real embarresment of riches if they all pan out, but I know some of them will turn into junk and it's difficult at this stage to figure out which ones to keep.

A good run in the League cup has provided enough cash to make some player purchases possible. My scouts found two excellent (by East Stirling standards) strikers languishing in the reserves of 1st Division teams that I could afford. Both are better than any striker I currently have on the books so I acquired them and freed up space after a lot of careful player comparisons. In a two month period each one player of the month once and with a month and a half to go we are topping the table.
I went back to the teams that sold them to me and compared the stats of the players I acquired with their first team regular strikers (at least those stats I could see). Both of my new strikers should have been playing first team football for their old first team sides.
It looks like promotion is certain for the second year in a row, unless injuries start kicking in.

If WE got Independance? You want to learn some History, fella. It was James VI of Scotland that took over the Poofland Crown to become James I of Poofland

You guys are a Scottish dependancy.

Moving back on topic...
East Stirling managed to finish in first place in Division Two but only by goal differential. As the new season began in Division One the training facilities are now listed as aweful, players are demanding over 400 pounds per week to resign, and somehow another world class scout wants to come and scout for us. It was a really tough decision because he is also a very good coach, but we signed him as a scout. I really have no idea what we will do with anyone he finds since we continue to have a totally full squad. The coaches think only one player is not progressing as expected and since he is the third best DC it's hard to decide what to do with him.
The biggest achievement at the end of the second season was that not a single player was listed as lacking match practice when the season ended. Everybody seems to have gotten enough games to keep on improving.
Well, time to see what a year in Division One holds.
