Oi! STEADY!!! For goodness' sake, there's youngsters read this Forum.
Footballing position. Not what you play(ed) yourself, or even your favourite player. Just the position.
Mine's is DC. I love to see a good, skillful, strong DC making a last-ditch saving tackle (like Donkey did for years at the Arse), and even more, charging up the field for a corner and banging an unstoppable header past the helplessly floundering keeper.
Just behind the strikers. I always wanted to see "The Divine Ponytail" playing there rather than as a striker. If he did, I reckon Italy would have won in both 1994 and 1998.
If I can find anyone to play this position well in LLM I'm ecstatic. But then, we all would be.

Worst are either DMR or DML, a pointless position for players who can't play full-back properly, and are too defensive to play in midfield.

I don't know about that. Brazil has a couple of them that seem to do alright.

If it's the two blokes I'm thinking of, I'd call them D/AMR or D/AML. Or maybe just FL or FR's who play in defence.
I prefer a creative MC most. Not a guy who plays behind the FCs and not a guy who tackles everything that has a different jersey like this Man U DM C bloke from Ireland
An MC should be able to lead the speed of the game. Either to make it faster, playing quick passes, or to make it slower, holding the ball and waiting until the others run into position.
Typical examples for this would be the German MC who showed the crowd the finger during the '94 world cup or the Austrian midfielder who holds the record for the most caps there.
And yes, it influences my LLM behaviour, since I always try to implement tactics that make use of such a playmaker. If there is no one, then two or even three other midfielders need to share the responsibility, but a playmaker is a MUST
I always work from the back forward as I'm buying the team I want, so I suppose my favourite is GK. As for playing I prefer DMC, as I have no skill whatsoever
I tend to prefer the position my fav player plays at. He's a DMC who manmarked Rivaldo at the World Cup 8th finals. He doesn't hardly ever tackle, and never gets carded. (He's the winner of the golden boot this year in Belgium) That's just amazing. Some defenders need to be rough to even have a shot at keeping their man to mark out off the score sheet.
Therefore, I tend to try and use a tactic with an important role for a DMC, if I have any player who can suit that role.
