At the beginning of the season, I set my captain. I didn't choose the assistant recommended choice, instead I chose an experienced player with 20 influence, personality "born leader", who IRL is a popular member of the squad.
I then go to my squad screen. Almost all of my players have "PR" next to their name. I click on them, and find that my ENTIRE SQUAD either feel that my choice is not suitable to be captain, or that they would be a better candidate for the captaincy. The only player who had no such concerns was the deposed captain! Why has this happened?
The weirdest part is that this was a restart after my first attempt with the same team failed. In the first attempt I made the same choice of captain to universal acclaim from members of my squad. What on earth is going on? Any ideas?

I just got promoted to BSP, then sacked my AssMan and let my captain go on a free.
Average squad age ~26, with three or four elder statesmen. Really, a lot of less-than-twenty-threes.
Nobody has influance greater than 12, and those with 10 or more have Teamwork less than 7.
I sign a 29-year-old striker with 15 Inf, 15 Teamwork, 8 Decisions, and 9 Composure, and name him Captian after he'd been with the club two weeks. Half the squad reacted positively, except for the (re-named) Vice-Captian, who thought he'd be better, and a 30-year-old DR with 3 Inf, 6 TW, 10 Decisions, and 9 Composure who also ... thought he'd have been a better choice.
Gimme a break, guy. My deaf dog would be a better captian than you. Go practice your free kicks. Just because you're a year older and make two points better decisions doesn't mean you'd be worth carp.

Spending years at a club give points to be captain... After 3 seasons, I have the same captain and vice, but next season I will change them since one is playing as reserve an the other is just not playing.
Fictional team. I start each game with an empty squad in the lowest level of the country, and have roughly five weeks to sign staff and side and get them match fit. I actually spend a lot of time researching the town my team is to represent, picking a logical place in the R/L town for the stadium to be built, developing kits and logos, etc ...
This year, it's England for the first time. More levels to climb, you know ... Canterbury City, playing at Kingsmeade Road.
"Not a suitable candidate for captain"???
