If you ever watch football from that era, they're not able to play football as technically well as nowadays due to awful pitches, awful footballs, and awful boots. So you'd want to reduce their technique etc.
Physically, they'd also be less impressive, due to worse diets, and less understanding of physiques, and so on.
But still would be cool to see them all. Every time I see 'classic' players I tend to wonder what they'd be like... /blush

You can hardly reduce players' skills for that!
For one, back when that was the case, everybody had to deal with those factors - the best players in the world would still get top ratings for their technique. Besides, if people like Duncan Edwards were playing today, things like that would be in effect, and wouldn't hamper them.
Anyway, Duncan Edwards is someone who only very few people could accurately quantify, and even then, it would never be a genuine representation of the man. Let it be said that he was a fantastic talent, and might well have gone on to be the best English player in the history of the game, and leave the numbers game for the current players.

Well said, snooty. Always very difficult to assess just how good a player from a different era was compared to the modern day. football now, and in Edwards' day are practically two different sports. To say he was a great player is just, but there's no value in comparing the eras. Footballers then did what they do now, they played to the best of their abilities, enthralling and inspiring a generation with their actions. In that sense, the hasn't changed, and never will.

He was a half back although DM would be a better description.
Completely 2 footed and better than Bobby Moore in my estimation, there's a lot of film footage of him but it never gets shown these days.
