this may have been bought up before but HOW do you get a team from the conference to the premiership?
Playing FM07 I am Stevenage in the conference and i spent most of my transfer budget on eddie stamford.
We are losing money and the players wont accept wage cuts. what are the key points to success?
The tactics and training tips forum will give detailed help for you.
In a very brief nutshell:
Keep a very small team in the lower leagues until you become a professional squad.
Use your scouts like crazy to find players who you can buy for no transfer money.
Keep players to one year contracts as much as possible unless you know they are going to be a star for you. You might lose a few, but you won't worry about cutting dead weight at the end of the season for the duds.
Find good coaches and use effective training schedules.
Make sure you make a profit. If you are running in the red, it will be extremely difficult for you to receive any transfer funds without selling your current players.
i dont want FM08 atm. too expensive/ not good enough reviews.
i bought FM07 for £2.50 this week.
I've tried offering players to clubs but there is no interest.
However i havent tried scouting

I only offer players to clubs when the team screen shows that a player is "wanted". I think this means the player is on another team's "shortlist" and offering that player to clubs at that time, may encourage one of them to offer a bid on your player.
Also, when you are making scouting assignments, I ask my scouts to scout the nation I'm in with the specific task/assignment of a current salary of "0". This will find all my unemployed players as well as players who are on amateur teams. I have found some quality players at the lower levels from amateur teams.

£2.50 is a bargain. Not like FM07 is old and out of date, it's superior to FM08 in every way, play that and keep an eye of whether/if the mood on here alters towards FM08 after the next patch.
i like it. I was using FM05 which was getting boring after a couple of seasons on each game.
ronnie henry is wanted (value £14k) first team player by burnley/ port vale.
i asked for £18k/£20k they said no. I might do scouting assignments then offer him for less money.
