Because you asked. The problem is that you are asking people to decide something for you which is purely a matter of opinion. We are not talking quantifiable terms where you can calculate that FM07 is 26% more realistic, or FM08 is 32% more fun. It is purely a matter of preference.

I personally, couldn't go back. Maybe it's just my personal issue with going back to old things and missing the new features in 08. Or it could simply be that I have been fortunate to have never experienced any of the issues that other people talk about.

But the next person could come on here and say that they prefer FM07 because they don't have the same problems. Or maybe it's because they're the sort of person who simply hates new things and looks back on everything with rose tinted specs.

The problem is, the only way you will know is by trying it yourself.

This is the first time I've gone back to an older version and although I'm missing some new features and the Steklo skin from FM 08, the match engine is way better and much more realistic. Hopefully that won't be the case when 8.0.2 comes out. Give it a try.

I was in the midst of one of the longer career games I've had in CM/FM since I first started playing it back in 1998 (10 years?? :eek: :eek when FM08 came out. I immediately jumped to the newer game, and even with all the problems, I have to say I find ot much more addictive than I found 07.

Unfortunately, I had to start a new career game when 8.0.1 came out because it did nothing to fix the fixture rescheduling problem for ongoing games (not sure it fixed it for new games, either, but I started in the BSP the second time so it didn't seem to matter). Since then, I have twice had to start new games because of the XML Parsing Error problem. So far, so good, but if it happens again, I will probably then go back to FM07.

Despite the problems with the match engine, which 8.0.1 seems to have made worse, I find it still has a more realistic feel than did FM07 (except when teams make the kinds of mistakes my son's team used to make at U11). In FM07, every single match, whether you were in the Irish Premier Division or the Serie A, looked exactly the same.

I'm still playing FM07 and enjoying it, I can win games without the need for 30+ shots on goal and score from freekicks.

But, to each his own - horses for courses.

Pancu FM 07 7.0.2. is the best fm game IMO. But of course everyone has their own opinions.

I've gone back to FM 2007 because you can't constantly win games on FM 2008 8.0.1 patch. I am waiting for the 8.0.2 patch comes out.
