Would be cool if every Man Utd game around Feb 6th in FM would start off with players standing in a circle for a minute of silence. Maybe something for future versions?
yeah i agree with chappers. man utd arent the only team to have a tragedy on their hands, e.g motherwell most recently with the death of phil odonnell.
would be nice if there was really specific stuff like that but there would be fans all over saying why is this in it and this isnt.
it's just an idea.. of course it would be implemented for all clubs. Makes playing experience more interesting.
I remember watching games around feb and they always wear black armbands and have minute of silence. Not sure I need someone to confirm since I'm in Canada and not all man utd games get televised here.
There is no minutes silence every year at the closest home game to Munich. However fans gather before the game under the Munich clock and sing the flowers of Manchester to pay respect. Black armbands are also worn by both teams, it has been that way as long as I remember.
My personal view is that I wouldnt want to see something like that in the game, just wouldn't seem right to me. Plus as has been said where would you draw the line.
One cold and bitter Thursday
In Munich Germany
Eight Great Football Stalwarts Conceded Victory
Eight men will never play again, who met destruction there
The Flowers of English Football
The Flowers of Manchester
Matt Busby's team were flying home, returning from Belgrade
This great United Family, all masters of their trade
The pilot of the aircraft, the skipper, Captain Thain
Three times he tried to take off, and twice turned back again
The third time down the runway disaster followed close
there was slush upon that runway and the aircraft never rose
It ploughed into the marshy ground, it broke it over turned
and eight of the team were killed as the blazing wreckage burned
Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor, who were capped for England's Side
And Irelands Billy Whelan and England's Geoff Bent died
Mark Jones and Eddie Coleman and David Pegg also
They all lost their lives as it ploughed on through the snow
Big Duncan he went too, with an injury to his brain
And Irelands Brave Jack Blanchflower will never play again
The great Matt Busby lay there, the father of his team
Three long months were to pass, before he walked again
The trainer, coach and secretary and a member of the crew
Also eight great sporting journalists, who with United flew
and one of them was Big Swifty, who will ne'er forget
the finest English goalkeeper, that ever graced the net
Aye, England's Finest football team, its record truly great
Its proud successors mocked by a cruel turn of fate
Eight men will never play again, who met destruction there
The Flowers of English football, the Flowers of Manchester
I disagree completely with the idea of implementing it into the match engine or whatever.
A simple message in the inbox would be a nice touch... perhaps something like "Several thousand fans gathered under the Munich clock today to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster."
But to say the least, it certainly isn't a feature that has any need to be added.
Personally, events such as this don't need to be in the game. These are deeply moving and significant best remembered and commemorated in real life, rather than a small, cosmetic mention on what is, after all, a game.
I'm not moaning about why people would want to say this, believe me, but leave the serious real stuff out of the game. Besides, there's plenty that (imo) needs to fixed before adding cosmetic touches.
