am trying to get onto the editor to put me and my mates names in a non-league side to see if we ever make it any furthe but am having issues with the editor, when i load it and click on server_db it just says that this is read only and cannot be opened foe editing, any suggestions please ???

Goto your fm06 db folder default is

CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\data\db

I would highlight all the db files

client_db.dat
lang_db.dat
people_db.dat
pl_hist_dt.dat
pl_hist_id.dat
pl_hist_index.dat
server_db.dat

Right click on one, click properties. If there is a tick or a "green box" inside the read-only box, unclick.
