What 'something' did you try to edit?

Also, editing the Football Manager database and then starting a new game of Champ Manager won't do anything since the two games are seperate.

Guessing you really meant FM all along, then we'll need to know what you edited. And which server_db file you edited which would affect the game? (Should be data\db in the Program Files directory for FM).

Ok, so what did you edit about these players? Some of their stats?

If so, then you may have missed out editing their current and potential abilities.

These range from 0-200. 0 being Michael Ricketts and 200 being anyone on Chelsea's shortlist (unless they're scouting Ricketts!).

Basically, these values (commonly known as CA and PA) can affect values of a player. If you, for example, set all the players values to 20, and their PA or CA (or both) are in the midrange (100 or something), then the game will compensate by reducing their stats.

Basically the CA and PA take precendence over any value you enter and, while the values you enter do have a bearing on the ones in the game, they can be weighted down by the PA and CA.

An explanation of PA and CA:

Potential Ability (PA):
How well the player may become in the future. This value is higher than CA in younger players.

Current Ability (CA):
How well the player is currently. This value is generally lower than PA unless the player has past their peak. In which case, you can expect their stats to drop eventually.


If you did edit the CA and PA values (have a look around in the player editing bit because I can't remember exactly where they are (Attributes perhaps?)) then come back to me and we'll see what else might be wrong.
