FM Genie 2006 is a pre-game editor that can be used for editing players' and
personnel contract information (including loan and future transfers info), a
very useful tool for creating data updates. All changes can be saved in a
separate file (package) which can be further imported into FM database file.
System requirements: RAM 256 MB, 300 Mb Hard Disk Space.
FM Genie editor is fully compatible with official editor / FM ver. 6.0.0 and
6.0.1 (any build).
============
Editing Tips
============
To reset date please enter date value as follows "01.01.1900", all other
values are set to "-1" or "0" by default.
When manager or president contract is set for a new club, previous manager or
president contract for that club is automatically cancelled. Easy to use
feature.
Default backup copy folder is FM 2006/data/db/_backup.
============
Search
============
Search is done by db object name (player name, clubs, nations, etc).
Indexing system is used for quick search i.e. start typing first letters for
search results to appear. However, please note that, for instance, to search
for "Del Piero" a proper search entry would be "Del P..." and not just
"Piero". Rest of the objects can be searched by part object name such as
"Madrid" when searching for "Real Madrid".
============
Packages
============
To manage "packages" please use interface menu.
"New" - to create new 'package'
"Open" - to open previously saved 'package'
"Import" - to import previously saved 'package' into opened 'package'
(please note that all the existent players and staff in the opened 'package'
will be replace with imported data)
"Save" - save
"Save As..." - save under different file name
"Install" - to import updated info (implement all changes) into FM database
"There is x club founded" - should be "found" (or even better, "Search found x club/s / players"
A lovely interface, with clear concise text with a quick loading (and very quick closing) time!
Special note should be given to the auto-complete searching which searches the db as the letter is being typed. I guess this is easier to program than waiting for the user to press enter as all you have to look for is a keypress in the textbox.
Also, auto-backing up, something sorely needed in the official editor instead of a prompt, is welcome.
Maybe a future version could have tooltips for ranges at all?
Nicely done! A great start to something I hope will become much bigger as you learn more about the data!
Also, whilst packages are a bloody excellent idea, maybe some better explanation, both in here and in the editor about what they do would be good.
I'm a little confused about what data it records.
Also, was this written in Delphi? I'm looking at it in Process Explorer and it seems to include the same fluff in terms of variable naming (TObject, TString etc).
P.S. It's nice that you have a Ukrainian forum which has an English area but if I want to reply to a post, I'm going to have to break out a translator to sign up.
For that reason, will you be visiting this forum to check on replies for the benefit of those who don't near Kiev?! :p
Dan, first of all, thank you for essential remarks.

I think, it's not important

Main idea of this program is importing new changes into current db without losing previously maked.
It faster then official editor. For comfortable work is enough 256 Mb, because it loads info only needed for searching players and editing contracts.

hmm, I get an error-message as soon as I try to execute the program. It says something like "dynamic link library not found"
What OS do you have? And what library it requests?
I have Windows 2000 and it requests the dynamic link library kernel32.
Well - I don't have much of a clue, but at least I found the kernel32.dll file in my C:/WINNT/system folder. So I don't know where the problem lies.
My OR is fully updated and NET Frameworks 2.0 installed...
