Hello,

Currently I'm having a game with Lyon, and I haven't played really long yet in this game, only 3 months. As you all know, Lyon is a team with strong players:
My current 1st team

This looks on first sight a team which you can easiliy win the competition with. That's what I thought also. I've been playing this game for a while now, and I've had my ups and downs, but i immediately 'felt' this team isn't running. And i can't find the problem. I based my personal tactics on this thread.
I've set all personal settings (in my opinion) perfectly fitting to the players. I have bought Soren Larsen to act as a targetmen, but now comes the problem: I can't seem to win easily. I play draw very often, 0-0, 1-1. And IF i win, it's 1-0. I have a lot of possesion, but i can't make much goals. On the other hand, my oppenent doesn't have much attacks, but they make goals almost every shot they take on target.

I don´t think that a 4-4-2 formatiom is getting the best out of a team like lyon. Try a 4-3-3 Gk DL DC DC DR DMC MC MC AMR AML ST. I play my DMC as key player free role and he´s very defensiv. Pleny of attacking mentality on left and right Wingers(forwards) crosses on strikers. Mc´s joining the attack. Put Fred on a mentality around 11-13 free role and he will score all the time. As i said before the key player is the DMC and there are plenty of good Dmc´s in Lyon and france. I play like this Coupet Clerc Cris Squllacii?? Adidal DMC Toualan MC Tiago Juniho AM Maluda Gouvo and Fred as striker, and i won everything there is to win. Good luck. Remember pace and short passing also key factors to sucess

Try a 4-2-3-1 formation:

Adjust the attacking bar a half way to the right,play direct passing, put creativy half way 2 the rightm quick tempo a bit to the right, and focus passing through the middle.

This should do the trick attacking wise but you will need a strong defence aswell as this formation ofthen leaves u exposed on the wings. the 3 AMC players put them taking long shots if there stats are any gud and also tick through balls. hope this helps

But it's hard to find a formation where you can have Juninho, Källström, Toualan (and maybe even Diarra) in one team. Struggling

Hey Martjin,

I have uploaded my 4-2-3-1; the tactic that Benfica4ever suggested!

This tactic took Sheff Uts to 3rd in teh first season, so I think with a bit more input, it can be amazing.

Anywyas, I was hoping that rather than making a tactic from scratch, if you wish to try this. There are some things like Long shots, tackling etc that you can tweak with your team.

I will be explaining more about this tactic tonight in this 4231 development thread

So I've been playing this tactic for 5 months. I tried to use Burre's tactic also, but i couldn't find a good team where i could use all my starplayers.
At first with the Lotus tactic, i played well, but i didn't won, and then after 2 matches it start rollin'.
I edited some things offcourse, which fitted more to the specific player.
Also i gotta say this tactic does not work as good when playing out. It's a better tactic when you play home.
And possesion and good crosses are also a problem which i don't know how to clear...
But it's a decent tactic

I think people can get too wrapped up in tweaking individual player settings (ie me when i first used 07).
Then I realised i was asking too much of the players. For example i bought Alex for my Liverpool game, he has great dribbling, long shots, crossing, flair etc so i thought great long shots - often through balls - often run with ball often etc etc.
Well he was Pants, but no wonder i was asking him to do evreything! So i decided he s a good player let him decide. Evreything to mixed or rarely if player is terrible in a particular area. Do this for the whole team and voila the big teams start playing as they should.

So it hasn't been all that bad!

This tactic is supposed to be quite defensive. I say supposed because I know that it can be improved further defensively, just don't know how!

I normally found, that with this tactic, I didn't do to bad away. But anyways, I guess its the little tweaks that count. I am glad you are tweaking it to suit your players. I think that is a rule for FM07.

But liek I said earlier, I will post some stuff about this tactic later. I would love to get your repsonse there too.
