I read in the manual that you can set closing down to 'only in your half' or 'only in your penalty area'...However, I can't see this as an option ANYWHERE?

Any ideas?
in team instructions only in own half is basically the mixed closing down in the and only in own area is rarely
Ive just changed my closing down settings based on this, and i've seen a massive improvement (I had my DFC's to close down on high, which is ridiculous really - they were getting caught out of position)
How about tight marking for your central defenders? I haven't tried it as of yet but it would seem pretty obvious it would work (?) since they need to stay close to opponent's strikers in order not to give them too much space to roam about?

I've tried playing with tight marking in my 4-4-2 formation for a couple of games but it seems that whenever I do the DC:s get drawn apart leaving huge gaps for their attacking midfielders or even the other striker to run through. Maybe it could work if I had a DMC.
I play 4132 and set my DCs to pretty low closing down. The DMC is fairly high. I find in 442 the DCs need to close down more or there is too big a gap bewteen mdifield and defence. Also use a higher line.
dmc is good but not so good if ur overrun in midfield. I tend to move both my dmcs up to mc allot when playing, especially when the opposition are gaining a load of possesion.
