When my scout says that opposition likes to keep the possession, what should I do about it? Against those opponents I get maby 1 shot at goal each match...And usually at away games it seems that what ever I do I can`t even get the ball. Possession goes like 60-40% or 55-45% and shots are 10+ against my 1-3.

| Can't help you there!
But I think we need a thread just describing what exactly does each scout report statement means. I haven't seen a thread such like this. I might make one if no one else does.

But thanks for the advice - I'll take it on board and see how we go.
Last thing - do you make much use of opposition instructions? I don't use them enough and think they have the potential to be a real game breaker if used well.
| Aye I do. If they say theres an aerial threat I have him closed won all the time. They can be useful on fasts trikers too especially showing them onto the weaker foot. Quote: |

| If they like to keep possession means they play short passing and slow tempo. I like to play fast tempo against teams like this, as it unsettles them as I don't allow them to play slow.

thanks cleon, i really do need help against the "442 defensive counter attacking" teams that hold possesion.
will try alter to fast pace no counter for them and see how it goes. It means i should play direct then?

this might be useful, try to stick with one formation. Your player need to familiarise with your style of play.

From what I've observed, when it comes to gelling and the team getting used to your tactic and so forth, the game only looks at your formation. In a game Ive been playing for four seasons I have only played one formation, but have changed the instructions many times and even alternate between a home and away tactic. Still, my "Tactical Consistency" rating has continued to rise. So in my estimation you would be ok having a home and away tactic but I wouldn't use a different formation for each. I would advise against changing formation during the season.

| Changing instructions is okay, but the original poster was going to use 2 completly different formations if you read It would be pretty crap if you couldn't change instructions on a game by game basis
But using 2 completely different shapes is confusiong for the players and you can't get real consistency going. There might be a few people who use 2 formations and it might work on a small scale for them. But ultimatley if you want consistency then stay with 1 formation and change the instructions.

Yea, thats what I was on about, the fact he wanted to completely change his shape. In a way I think I like the feature, because now the game recognizes and sets your preferred formation. But in real life some teams do use different shapes depending on the situation, whether it be home and away, or domestic and continental. Benitez likes to change shapes from home to away and last year Arsenal used a different shape when playing in the Champions League from the one he played in the EPL. Perhaps if the game would have different preferred formations for home and away, or allow you to set that yourself. Then go from there with the squad getting used to your tactics and your tactical consistency.

well I've taken Cleons sage advice and stuck with one formation making necessary adjustments to suit home or away.
I am in agreement with Uncle Sam about how some sides irl use different formations based on who they are playing.
I ideally would play a 4-4-2 but being able to play with 2 DMC's in front of defence against someone like Chelsea would be great at Stamford Bridge... but as it stands I have to follow Cleons advice (which is good by the way) and keep to one formation.
