Has anyone found that the new patch has made Away games much more tougher.

If so how did you combat this?

... so far this new patch has been very annoying.

I have noticed that. Away games are nearly impossible to win. Even lower division teams have more shots and posession (and in the end more goals). I`m winning almost all of my home games, but losing every away game.

I`m losing my interest in this game already. This is just too "tactical" and hard. I don`t want to spend 30 mins before every game analysing my opponents last games...

I've noticed the same thing. I can't pinpoint what is causing it though, but I've lost a couple of matches to bottom premier league teams that I'd never lose pre-patch.

Almost all of those goals have been from moments where the commentator would say "x has to take the blame for that".

I've noticed that Away games have changed but I can't quite figure out why. It seems like they are playing "Ultra Attack" football or they have an amazing defensive game where I can't score - then they score in the 93rd minute with their only corner of the game.

It's gotten to the point where I now play my most defensive formation for away games and hope the skill of my forwards can pinch a goal.

It's even worse if you score early - you can almost guarentee they will pullback.

if ur ranked above them, they tend to sit back a bit and defend very well as a unit. On the attack it's very direct. You must stop the wingers and park a bus in front of ur own area. To defend against a team that is playing like that isnt hard. what's hard is finding a balance to score.

Away games are definately tougher now.

I'm thinking of abandoning the idea of using different tactics away.

I had a bit of a 'spit my dummy out' the other day over the game being too hard etc etc and got a bit of a slating from some sections. What it did was make me try even harder to work the game out and im happy to say i am now top of the EPL.

As for tactics i play the same formation but vary the team/player instructions depending on what the opposition play against me. Yes i still concede goals (more away than at home) but i suppose thats true IRL.

What im trying to say is dont give up... once you work it out you will get so much satifaction trust me.... i have pages and pages of notes on what i changed to get this that the other to work and now im finding it easier.

Totally agree with Spinza. In this version, its more of player over tactics IMO.

When you say player you mean 'us' as managers, yes?

I suppose this is true IRL, i mean if the team with the best players won every week it would be a boring game. The manager is the single most important person in any team. He is the one that sets the tactic, motivates the team and picks the team.

Football today has become a squad game... long gone are the days where you could win the EPL with 16-18 players. Teams will rota players for various reasons, fitness and style of play the manager wants being the main ones.

I think that FM07 reflects that albeit making the game very hard for us... probably why we are not EPL managers IRL!!

Forgot to add that tatics are becoming a major factor in football today. Take a look back to the early 90's and Blackburn winning the EPL with the 'SAS'.... remember them..... Sutton & Shearer!!

Blackburns tactics were very simple.... would that work in todays game... i doubt it.

Teams may play the same formation week in week out but you can bet your a$$ that they will change player/ team instructions.
