It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I agree. Can't be bothered with it as long as I have a decent assman, which I make a priority to make sure I have most of the times.
He seems to do as well/mediocre as me.

I've recently hired Tony Colbert (who has 19 Motivating) as my assistant coach. I heard that if you give your assistant manager control over your team talks, he will make the team perform better if he has good Motivating. I've tried it and I'm seeing a significant improvement in the individual performances of my players. Has anyone else ever tried it?
I guess that's right but it means that the players will build an understanding with him and not you. I do my own team talks and after 2 years with the same team nearly all the players list me as fav. person. That won't happen if you don't do your own TT.

Careful. There will be a definite drop off in performances if you bring in an AssMan without local knowledge.

I brought in a German assistant, and it's taken nearly a year for his knowledge to really increase, and this has been matched by a vast improvement in performances.

Yeah I brought in Sammy Lee for West Ham. In my game his motivation is 20 and man management is 16 and he seems to have made a real difference.

Also had this problem. Mine fell from 20 to 14 in 6 months

Maybe coach ratings are based on their past performance rather than an actualy ability so a run of bad luck will lead to their stats going down

That sounds slightly perverse.
