Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Goalkeeper training

How many of you include ball control, defending, attacking and shooting practice for a goalkeeper?

there are some great schedules provided in the forum that you can see and/or download.

I personally give minimal attacking and shooting (2-3 notches) as they improve passing and composure (although I have not seen any positive results).

I set defending to halfway between zero and medium; tactical and ball control to about halfway between medium and heavy.

Tactical should improve positioning which is very important for keepers. Technical improves ball control in general which is good when the keeper receives a back pass or clears a ball outside the area.

Defending is important for tackling - I do not know if it is used by the game but I like to fancy my keeper being able to tackle like Oli Kahn !

I think that defending training also improves a players concentration which is also good for a goalkeeper

And attacking improves passing, while shooting improves composure, and ball control improves first touch - all are important for GK, at least to some degree. Goalkick is a type of set piece, so it's also seem good to train GK. So I always add them to GK schedule, though focus on Goalkeeping, Tactic, Aerobic and Strenght.
