gilles sunu - excellent player, shoddy attributes.
why is it that players seem to do so much better than other despite massive discrepancies in their stats, for instance, gilles sunu has absolutley shoddy attributes, bought him as an impact player off the bench for millwall in league one (19 pace and also high composure and finishing, little else). But alas he managed to dominate my scoring in league one and later in the championship. When i got to the premier league i doubted his abilities as a goal scorer and employed zeefuik and arturo lupoli as my strikers. while lupoli scored consistently zeefuik (25mill) flopped, so i decided to give sunu a go and viola he top scored in the premier league as well, even getting into the france squad and scoring a hat trick on debut (and never being picked again) has anyone else had similar scenarios? appreciated also if someone can test gilles sunu in the premier league...came from arsenal from memory... thanks

He's in Arsenal U21s.
I loaned him as Metz, as Arsenal is a parent club, and he absolutely dominates in the French 2nd league...
I know it's not exactly Premiership, but thought I'd throw it in there anyway...

Well the 2 most important things for a striker are finishing & composure imo. Add to that pace & acceleration and the striker will tend to do well in the game. Ofcourse other attributes are very important as well. Thats why he does well. Same is the case with Rhys Murphy again at Arsenal. Hes got a lowish PA but develops in the right areas and becomes a pretty good striker.

nice dud. yeah, must excell in lower leagues...but who would have thought premier league as well. and another question, although his stats are dud, wouldnt france pick him again if he scored a hat trick in a 20 minute debut...

It's all about having the stats in the right places and you league difficulty. High pace, finshing and composure? That's a pretty deadly combo, especially in League 1 and the CCC.
I must admit however, this has made me think before. I was (am to a degree still am) certain that stats didn't matter that much, I always found people with good PA nearly always outperformed anyone with low PA and good stats. I never had enough evidence to back you theory but I know I'm not the only person to have thought this.

I have him in my Excelsior team which is currently dominating Holland. He has good attributes and a high value but it getting outplayed and out scored by both my other striker - Mazzola and Klusener. I don't get it.

its basically just because pace is the most important attribute in the game. And no other attribute even comes close
so if you have a striker with top pace and acc and decent finishing he'll be amazing in any league, at any level. not very realistic but thats the way it is in the game
