Just been inspired by reading post by adax and found truth in his words. I too have always avoided playing with big teams as it is no fun. Have probably not played in proper LLM fashion though. Wanted to ask a few questions therefor. Have read the FAQ, but am not sure as to what I am allowed......(warned u it might have been a dumb question) Can I go and view matches from other teams??? Can I scroll through the divisions and try to snap up unhappy players. Or is it all only about using ur scout and raising young boys to be grown men???
I apologise in advance 4 bothering the great minds of LLM with these spacewasting questions, but would hope for an answer so I can get started as an LL Manager
If it feels wrong and you need to ask, then it probably is. Imagine what a real life manager at your club, and his scouts would really be able to achieve in terms of finding players. Use that as your guide.
Would you have a legitimate reason to watch the match? Would your club have the money for you to watch the match? Would it be a match you could legitimately expect to see on the tellie if you couldn't be there in person?
If you can answer 2 of the 3 yes, then I would say you're safe. As for scrolling through to find unhappy players. No, not unless you received a news item. Actually that's usually a reason for a player to get 'off' my shortlist, as it usually means "no professionalism."
We buy veteran players as well. The question is, would your team have a reason to buy the player--and would you have a legitimate RL reason to know the player exists and what his abilitiies are. Meaning 'not' a prior save or a good player guide. If the player pops up via scouting or news item, then fine. The player search is a grey area, most say it's OK if you put a search criteria of "interested" + "contracts=expired" to find players available for free transfer. But I say not unless the player's key attributes are known. "Key attributes" being understood as the attributes justifying your purchase of the player. But the find button is a joke.
I don't think you should scroll through leagues at all. Use either the player search which brings up known and listed players in your region or send out your legions (ha ha) of scouts. I've always used the player search - after all, you would know who the top players in the Premier League and national side are in real life, and your club would get to view everyone who is on the transfer list or is without a contract. How many of their stats are visible is determined by the Fog of War, so you should still send a scout. I, 99% of the time, send my scout out to watch them anyway. The only exceptions are when someone has high stats.
As for watching a match, I don't see a problem with this as long as...
1. It does not clash with a match with your club is involved in.
2. You can reasonably get there. For example, you wouldn't fly to Australia to watch a game. And you wouldn't watch a match in Carlisle on a Saturday afternoon if your team has played in Farnborough in the morning. You would never get there on time. I see going to watch other matches as scouting yourself, though to be honest, it's something I've never done. I'm too busy sabotaging the visitor's dressing room
What's the point in watching games? The Attribute Masking isn't lifted, you still can't see the players' stats, only when scouted. I'd say watching the game, identifying a player, then scouting him is ok, though.
Same with scrolling down the Leagues. Only your scouts can "unmask" the stats. Having said that, if you want to take the risk and think it's justifiable, then let your conscience be your guide.
The player/staff search shows you all players interested in joining your team, but using the filters a) doesn't work because of Attribute Masking, and b) isn't in "The Spirit"

Welcome to LLM.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Yes, but if you don't use the interested filter then you can get a list of all the players who are on the transfer list, listed for loan, available on free transfer or have an expired or expiring contract. This is something available to all clubs. The interested filter would not be there IRL, hence should not be used, but there is nothing wrong with looking at the transfer list.
In my opinion, you should send out a scout anyway, especially if he has masked attributes. Someone you may think is good could turn out to be a total duffer if you don't scout him.
You would still have to scout if you wanted someone outside your region though.
Thanx for all the response guys. I already feel that this is the place where the purest Cm fans hang out. Have got a much better idea now of what it is all about and will start straight away.
" Wanted: Part time scouts to go out and find suitable players for Kilkenny City AFC, applicants should at least have knowledge of how to kick a ball. Please reply to Tommy Miller c/o Kilkenny City Football Club "
That many lowe league clubs dont have the privallege of good scouts. Many of the succesfull managers therefor scout themselves. The fog of war makes it impossible to predict how good a player is. It just gives an indication.
So if you let teh scout watch him you've got the figures. But i like to watch 2 or 3 matches of the player so i feel good about him too. I mean in reall life you can watch everything on the tellie too. So why not in cm?
In some gamezs other unknown players then come to my attention. I like to do things myself! It makes the game more rewarding for me. But hey! Everyone has his own approach dont they?
