I can agree with you there. I may give you a run for your money in the Dave Cusack trophy again (that is the right trophy I think if memory serves me right).

Yeah, I know that really. I can just still remember playing CM97/98 for a couple of weeks when it came out, and giving up for a few months, before going back to the game. Didn't help that I started as Doncaster, whereas all my mates played as big clubs. They were the ultimate in crap at the time.

Like the others said, we'll have to play it to find out, but following the trend, i would say it will become a lot harder.

The absence of huge TV revenues will make it tougher IMO. When these were in place it certainly became easier to progress up the leagues...

Some people have been saying it will be harder to tempt players into the lower leagues i have the very opposite opinion. With clubs beinbg forced to cut costs there will be alot more free agents prepared to take a wage cut to stay in football, hence i think that gaining div 2+3 players may be better in CM4. Again just a theory and we'll all have to sit here waiting till mid March to discover whos right

One way to observe whether the discrepancies between upper and lower leagues is correct is too look at promotion/relegation. For instance, what percentage of teams in CM which were promoted the previous year avoid relegation the next, compared to that percentage IRL? Obviously, the higher the percentage, the larger discrepancy in the quality of the leagues.

Regardless of this, at least you have relegation in football (soccer) unlike in U.S. sports where you are forced to watch the same sad-sack losers play every year with no ambition towards the end of the season.
