Default FOW on - should this be in the header?

A few things to consider here, naturally anyone with CM0102 should use FOW, but those (few) who are still playing 0001 should not be flamed for not using it, the reasons are obvious.

However, we need to be careful not to put everything that is relevant to LLM'ing in the header. I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure that it is mentioned in the FAQ, and that's good enough for me.

If it isn't mentioned it should be.

Just checked and it isn't mentioned. The FAQ seems to me to be the right place to say that. So the discussion would then be, if it should go in there. I'd say yes based on the aforementioned speculations.

You know, I've always taken it as read that LLaMas use Attribute Masking as a matter of course. It never occured to me that anyone would play without it and claim to be LLM.

Too trusting, me. It's an integral part of LLM (since it was introduced) and necessary to make scouting more realistic.

Goes to show, don't you know?

Agreed, no reason to flame people who didn't want to spend the money to upgrade to 01/02.

I havn't played a game without FOW on CM0102. I find it makes the game alot more realistic in the fact that if you are taking over a club and a virgin in management you are not going to know how good players are.

Does anything no whether FOW will be developed further in CM4? I'm sure theres some things that could be added to it.

Anybody who plays the 01/02 version and doesn't play with FOW on deserves to be flamed. Obviously if a person doesn't have the latest version then they can't play with it and no fires lighted there.

Wished we had a fog of war at Stoke... it would be the only way to beat Chelsea!

I participated in a lengthy discussion on the CM4 forum about this - the gist of it was that several of us (me included) felt the current thing whereby all attributes are revealed after the first scouting trip wasn't realistic enough. We were asking for greater uncertainty in the way attributes became unmasked, related to the abilities of the scout. It was a good thread, but unfortunately it got no feedback from SI or any of the CM4 mods. So all we can do is live in hope. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I have to disagree on this - I have had players recommended by my scouts where only half of the attributes have come up - so I have had him scouted again before making a decision on him (and that is with players given a 5 star rating )

Call me stupid but I have a crazy idea (which I don't even like myself). We should put all this stuff in the header once the basic LLM guidelines for CM4 are in place. The aim of this is to fill the entire screen with the header so you can't help but read it before scrolling down to the posts

If a newbie misses the whole rules of LLM stated that obviously you can't blame anyone for fetching some marshmallows.

And FoW is a must if you can

Call me stupid if you like, but can someone please tell me what this FOW stands for. I read in LLM A to Z that it means Fog-of-War, but what does this mean in CM language. I play 00/01 version, so no FOW for me, though.

It means that players' abilities are hidden so you don't know if they have 1 for finishing or 20.

You can see big name players and anyone who has played internationals but you couldn't see lower league players in foreign leagues for instance.

It makes you use your scouts to check players out so you can reveal their attributes before signing them. It isn't a complete thing, because you can see some (but not all) for some players which is sort of having a rough idea what they are like.

It doesn't work perfectly but it is good enough to make the game challenging.
