I recall doing an ethics search while I was organizing the LLaMa of the Month challenges (with the aid of muss and Bedford_Bulldog). During this search I found a lot of great threads and one in particular that said something about the ethical number of coaches on your team. Can't remember it's name and I couldn't find it during my search.
But if I remember correctly the 5 coaches and 1 Assistant Manager I have at Southport at the moment is far too many and that is what I want to discuss.
Now, I know what you'll say this is an old discussion, and it must be cause it happened before I joined the forum. That's why I thought I'd revive it.
How many coaches are ethical at say an English 2nd division team, or any other team in any other league.
Considering that 4 of my coaching staff are still playing I believe it is ethical. It is done out of a wish to keep loyal players at the club, and from the ambition to improve the club without high transfer fees, but is it ethical according to the LLM ethics.
Discuss!!
btw if memory serves me that thread was started by either bell or Taipan, not sure though
No Ethical limit. If Coaches or other Staff are willing to come you'd be unrealistically limiting yourself to play a self-imposed ideallistic version of LLM.
I'd say it depends on your side's financial situation. Saying a Conference side can only have an assistant and 1 scout is fine if you're in the red. But if you're a side that is in the clear and can balance the books, what then?
I'd say it depends on what your books can support. Player-coaches are already on the books, so that really isn't adding anything, and, in truth, I often have 2-3 player/coaches at lower levels, then move the one(s) that are quality coaches to full time as they become useless as players. Thus, no addition to the books.

That's exactly why I wouldn't start a discussion about, both Craig and Jeff have seen a picture of me and would be quick to point out that I myself have hairlines that are receding a bit too fast for my taste. Now get back on topic dammit
I don't see any problem either in having a full quote of coaches providing you have the money to do it. I currently have a full quota in my game but my club's income slightly exceeds all wages though I have to admit to being somewhat stoogy when offering contracts!
