Default LLM and CM3 - how was it for you?

You seem to be on a roll Essex

Well, I've always felt that as soon as a new version was released I found the previous version to be a lot easier. By that I mean CM1 and CM2. I feel that I've finally worked out CM3, but it took me a wee while.

My current save is probably my most memorable one as it is the first save where I've been consistently successful, however, I regard my very first LLM game as a great experience as well, That save set my record for lost games in a row, which still stands.

Good thread Essexman.

I've only really done the proper LLM thing with CM3, with CM2 I used to manage Division 1 or Serie B teams and then get success that way. Had a lot of fun doing it. Therefore I feel unable to comment on it.

My best memory with CM3 is probably the 3 years I spent at Alicante. Mid table all the way. Why I enjoyed this the most I have no idea, but I may go back there in CM4, after I've had a look at Gravesend & Northfleet obviously. I also enjoyed my 6 years at Hereford where I failed to get promotion from the Conference, I then jumped ship to Dover who were in the conference.

Everyone knows my most memorable game.

I had tremendous trouble getting to grips with the original CM3. I ended up being so frustrated by it all that I gave up with it till I found this forum.

Since then, I have enjoyed my relegation battles a lot more.

My most favourite LLM game was my game with Southend. It was the first time i had brought a conference team into a strong first divison team, then i left which probably ended the games excitement for me. I should have stayed but i decided to go to hereford and then it crashed and corrupted.

I've had quite a few LLM games going to be fair on this version but the one that really stands out for me from the ones I can remember has to be the VG-62 one. I spent about 15 seasons in Finland before my hardisk died and experienced some great times.

I'm quite liking my new game aswell, although I have just been appointed manager of West Ham

Having played CM2 and CM3 00/01 before, 00/02 had (and still has  ) a very 'new' feel to it. Great memories. Telstar/Stormvogels, Trömsø, Poggese, Lidingö, Kermt Hasselt, SV Wehen Taunusstein and Clermont Foot Auvergne stick out

Can't wait for CM4, it will be as revolutionary as CM3 was relative to CM2.

Roll on 2D! (I think that that particular graphical representation is the only way SI could have gotten it right, great work!)

I have my own opinion on .cpp bugs.

CM3 01/02 was made for LLM, in my opinion. CM2 was my first, and CM3 had to be good to beat that. I remember, stop me if you've heard it, sitting at work feeling really crap and tense, and realising it was because my SC had decided to retire and I didn't know how I was going to replace him. (He's still playing for Bonnyrigg Rose IRL at the age of 44, btw)

I'll miss it. I think CM4 has the potential to be too full of eye-candy to cut the mustard, but I'm here to be proved wrong.

My best and most memorable LLM game was my 15 season epic with Barnet, taking them from the depths of Division 3 to within a whisker of winning the Premier League on two occasions, the second coming after I had been relegated after the first. I also won the FA Cup with them too. (First version of CM3)

I am really enjoying my current game with Billericay too. Partly because it's the first game where I'm doing a worthwhile thread (my LOW didn't last long because of a virus) and partly because it feels like Billericay have become my club. I've turned them from a newly promoted Conference club heavily in debt to a newly promoted Division 3 club with a fair amount of cash. All in four seasons. All this from a stop gap game before CM4! Since starting this game, I've never played any version of CM as much as I have now.

It gets better with age

My most memorable LLM in CM3 is currently roling with Järfälla. Anyhow, I believe, that CM3 has been far more realistic as LLM in lower versions. Some bugs cost me some problems, but that is probably more due to Win XP than bugs itself. I never had problems playing in Win 98 or 2000. SO the bugs seem to be the problem of MS (again ).
I must say, that in my CM4 the 2D match engine will probably stay unused. As for the rest I also fear, that CM4 will be more make-up improved than otherwise. Do not get me wrong. SI staff enjoys my full confidence and support, but I fear, that CM4 will be made more for those playing with higher ranking team.
Anyhow, I hope I am wrong .
