I jumped straight from CM 97/98 to CM 01/02 and I immediately found myself in over my head.

I've had a great time though with probably 2 memorable saves which were basically the whole of the last 18 months.

Newcastle (Aust) -> Bingen (Ger) -> Hampton and Richmond Borough (Eng) -> Brisbane (Aus) -> Blackburn (Eng) -> crash was my favourite. A 23 season epic but I never quite cracked it for a big win, although I did win an FA Cup and a few Australian/Oceanian titles.

Ipatinga (Brazil) has been a one club save and is still ongoing. I'm a bit fed up with that save at the moment after the diastrous run of 5 semi-final losses in 5 attempts at the National Division 1 finals. But I've taken them from ND3 and a middling team in the Minas Gerais league to the top team in MG and a regular semi-finalist in ND1.

Add to that a short stint in Japan with Kyoto Purple Sanga and a beginners effort at Puteolana in Italy and its been a fun time.

I aim to win a national title with Ipatinga (be it ND1 or a cup) before starting on CM4.

ive had a few good experiences with CM3 one of them been my Peterhead game and the other been my droysldon game, those two teams were on the same save game.

I haven't had a save like that since and that was a year ago. Im looking forward to CM4 and the new challenges (hopefully)

My happiest experience with CM3 was winning the Champions' Cup for the first time. It was with Livingston, at Parken, Copenhagen, and we beat Ajax 3-0.

Heh! I was ecstatic. I jumped up and shouted to the wife "We've just won the European Cup, and Bing got the winner!"

She was totally underwhelmed and said something like "Get a bloody life!!!"

Ah, Livi Can't wait for CM4 and my first game

I've enjoyed CM3, though obviously of late it's getting very tired, especially with the anticipation of the looming CM4. Had quite a few memorable moments, including raking Cheltenham to the Prem, and then proceeding to jump ship when the were about to get relegated . There's also winning the Champions League with Hearts (wahey Ian!!! ) and especially with Margate on two occasions. Not sure about the jumping about the room bit though Ian

My best CM3 game was just recently, after starting with Stromgodset, I moved to the Swedich second division to take over newly promoted Barrikaden.
£82k in debt and no players, four seasons later I had build my side and achieved promotion, spending just 2k along the way, and that was for coaches too.

Probably my first true LLM game, as I've always done the halfway thing and taken big LL teams...

...like Blackpool, my other game. This was on 00-01, and I was pretty successful before moving to freshly relegated from the Prem Everton, who I took to my only Champion's League Final on the CM3 series... I lost...!

Good memories, although for some reason I go along with those saying CM4 will not be as big a jump as CM2 -> CM3...

[edit] Oh and as for measuring up, I couldn't tell you either, CM3 being my first crack at LLM after Milan on 96-97, then Parma and Man Utd on 97-98 were as far from the bottom end as any.

I never managed Man United on CM3 though, my team...

I would say mine best CM3 memory was the number of years I spent in the Welsh division. It was my first taste in Europe, although the taste was very, very brief.

I'd really enjoyed CM97/98, and i remember thinked how much a hated CM3 when it first came out and i was comparing the 2. After CM97/98 i found it just way too complicated to get anything done. I got a real sense of satisfaction when i managed to at last sign my first player :o

Now, of course, the OS has grown on me and i've come to realise that the complexity is what makes it (and LLM) so satisfying when you finally get something cracked.

Favourite memory must be pogoing around the French league with Calias. 4 succesive promotions/relegations. At least the fans got their money's worth

I've enjoyed the CM3 series, although it has only been with 01/02 that I have discovered the LLM way.

My first LLM experience with Toulouse - Schoten - Emley is still locked on a crashed computer at home (unable to fix or get a new computer due to kids, Xmas and an impending wedding) and that is probably the most enjoyable.

My current save, on the computer at work is the most successful (and long-running) of my efforts so far on 01/02 (Kettering - Bradford Park Avenue) and I will keep this going for a while yet.

Ive only ever played CM during the CM3 (00/01) and never before but started LLM when i first got it.

I have enjoyed it and can still remember by first game that began at Boston then carried to Runcorn and lasted some 25 years. My best memory would perhaps be that save and also Wales games. But my major complaint is how easy sometimes it could be to go from conference to the EPL in a short time. That aside, i have no other complaints.

I've played all versions of the CM series. This version was effing dificult when it first appeared.
Finding out about playing as a LLmer has really opened my eyes to the possibilities of this game.
Unfortuneately I'm still trying to come to grips with the ethics of it all, as shown by my Horse and Transfer/Training relapses!

Sorry folks but I am trying!
