How old is too old for you? Easy Iaj. I'm talking players here not Ladies!
I have 5 or 6 players in the 35-39 year old age bracket in my squad and admittedly are slowing down a touch.
They can still do a job for my team though, especially if I don't expect too many gruelling matches from them.
I used to have an artificial age limit that anyone over 32 was shown the exit, P45 in hand. Now I just watch the average ratings and turn them into coaches when appropriate.
What do you do with the odd Geriatric Genius you may have lying around?
Well, with my current Montichiari save I was promoted in the first year, largely thanks to the efforts of a 35 year old AMC. Me, too, I used to have something against > 32 year old players, but that prejudice is proven wrong again at the moment, as my 33 year old DC is topping the defenders stats of the division.
It all depends on performances. If a player cannot cope it any more, he gets to play in the reserves. This usualy happens at the age of 33, though I had some players at the age of 37 that played OK. And yes I once had a limit. Over 30 = old.
I generally won't sign a player over 28 unless he is up in the true veteran class and on the cheap. My older players tend to be those who start at a younger age and stay at the club for extended periods. But then again I can never quite take that next step to winning everything so I am probably an idiot for not signing more experienced players
To the topic... I rarely use players that are over 30, not because they could not cope with it, but because I just hate that their stats are always dropping. Thats why I prefer to play and train youths, it is nice to see them develop to a quality players, when it happens. Its not that often anyway...
I signed a current Brazilian international when he was 40. He got injured for 3 months and I got sacked due to the teams performance.
To answer the question, I have no age limit. I drop players when their performance gets worse. If the coaches think I should reward them with a player/coach role, I sack one of the coaches and use him to replace the useless coach

LFCfan, have you considered the fact that you may be cursed?
Once a field player hits 31, I watch their performance carefully. At the 1st sign of deterioration, he gets sold off. Goalkeepers I'll keep until 35 without a second thought, as they don't even hit their prime until 30-31 usually.
When I start an LLM game, I'll bring in a few 30+ player/coaches to add stability to the side. I'll slowly move their status to backups, and then once the first contract ends, I'll make the competant ones full-time coaches and give the less-than-competant ones a "testimonial"-usually an appearance in the 2nd half of the last season's game or a friendly scheduled for their benefit-before I let their contract expire.
Realism (remenber that?) decrees that Lower League Teams have a blend of youth and experience (for the pedants out there). It's totally unrealistic to have an LL Team without experienced players (look at any LL Club website).
If he can walk the walk a guy gets into my team whatever his age.
Pretty much the same as above. Most of the time I'll let their contracts expire and give them a run-out in the last home match of the season to say farewell to the supporters.
But if a veteran can still do the business, he can stay. (though in true LLaMa fashion, I'll try to get him to agree a pay cut in his next deal ) I'll even keep around a oldster with 5 stamina if he can be a servicable player off the subs bench. So iaj, you'll always have a place on my subs bench.
