Entirely normal. Not all the Regionalliga enters the Pokal, and there are no reserves for teams outside the Bundesliga. In fact, those clubs that have "(A)" in their title are the reserve sides for Bundesliga teams. A= 'amatuer.'

Well we've reached the winter break. And our small squad is (so far) holding up well with the rigours of the Regionaliga.

The tiny squad (just barely enough to fill out a team sheet), coupled with attendances of a shade under 6,000 per game means we're actually making money. Of course, no scout means no youth players coming in either.

We can't score a goal to save our lives: tied for dead last in the Regionaliga with 14 in 20 matches. On the bright side, our defense is performing admirably, as we sit just off midtable in the goals conceded department. Basically, if we give up a goal we're dead. What is troubling though is we're on a 9-match winless run. The board are merely "satisfied" with my performance.

Ahh, I see you've encountered the other factor that makes life in Germany so interesting--impatient boards. I think every team in Germany believes they should be table-topping European powers regardless of where their actual location, finances, and stadium size dictate.

Makes it a lot of fun. LOL

WAHGERTY!11

Attack? We don't need no stinkin' attack.

Yes, despite finishing 2nd bottom in the entire Regionaliga for goals scored, Eintracht Schwerin are staying up. A 0-1 win at Nordhorn in the penultimate match of the season guaranteed our survival. Of course, it helped that we were in the top half for defense.

And the chant goes up: "One-Nil to the Schwerin!" Because of my 8 victories, 7 were by that score. We were blanked 14 times, including one stretch of 5 straight matches. I also had one stretch of 4 straight 1-0 matches, winning 3 of them.

Yes, a very nervewracking season. Especially when Lubeck were slowly starting to make up ground on us toward the end of the season. But they went down anyway.

A highly successful season for German clubs: Borussia Dortmund beat Bayern Munich for the Champions Cup; And Eintracht Frankfurt beat...er, Middlesborough  for the UEFA Cup.

Another funny bit: St. Pauli won the German Cup as a Regionaliga side, beating Bayern on penalties in the final.

Ready for the close season now. Will have to plug some holes as I have 4 players retiring, and had brought in 4 others on loan. And maybe I can find a scout.

Scout schmout. Just look for players available on loan, loan them in, and buy the ones you like. That is, if you can find anyone who will play for your club. LOL.

Yeah, quite a few times players have rejected moves to my club saying they're not sure if it will benefit them.

World Cup news already:

England have already qualified for WC '14 to be held in South Africa. Of course, their group was Wales, Scotland, Lithuania and Norway.

And the 2018 World Cup will be held in......Uruguay. Heh....U-R-GAY. [/Homer Simpson]

Have reached another winter break in the north of Germany. Staggered to the break, but went out in good fashion with a 4-0 thumping of Duisburg.

The squad is still quite small, but holding up okay. And I even managed to land a scout before the season began (of course, I had to offer 50,000 euro up front to convince him to get his lazy arse off the dole ).

Anyway, we had one brief spell in the relegation zone, stumbling out of the gate. But the middle part was good (even won 2 matches where we were down 2-0 at the half). We even climbed up to 8th at one point. We've faded back with our recent stumbling form, but I'm still reasonably confident we can stay up again (though it would help if we could actually get some away results).

Well, does my heart good to know I'm actually doing better than your computer with my Essen squad. Your home form is comparable to anyone, if you could figure a way to get a few results in unfriendly territory, you could be pushing your way up.

Put that scout to good use. LOL
