Having not even thought about playing champ for a while I decided it was time for a new game, bit of a twist though...

Stuck Norway as the start league and then decided to go manage in England. As this makes the game start in the middle of March I found the Conference League table looking like this...

English Conference - 2001/2 Table (19.03.02)Pos Team Pld Won Drn Lst For Ag Won Drn Lst For Ag Pts--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1st Doncaster 35 9 4 5 16 10 8 6 3 24 16 61 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2nd Barnet 35 8 5 4 26 16 9 4 5 24 16 60 3rd Dag & Red 35 9 3 5 22 14 10 0 8 21 16 60 4th Southport 35 11 3 4 23 13 6 5 6 15 14 59 5th Gravesend 34 6 4 7 24 23 10 5 2 26 14 57 6th Morecambe 35 7 2 8 21 22 9 6 3 26 15 56 7th Farnborough 35 5 5 7 15 17 11 3 4 20 11 56 8th Halifax 35 5 5 7 14 18 9 8 1 25 11 55 9th Telford 35 5 6 7 19 18 9 4 4 19 10 52 10th Yeovil 35 9 3 6 24 15 6 4 7 19 21 52 11th Margate 35 8 4 5 15 13 6 6 6 23 21 52 12th Northwich Vics 35 8 5 5 22 21 7 2 8 20 23 52 13th Scarborough 35 5 3 9 14 18 9 4 5 17 13 49 14th Forest Green 35 6 4 8 14 19 8 3 6 19 16 49 15th Leigh RMI 35 5 5 8 19 26 8 2 7 18 21 46 16th Chester 35 6 5 6 24 21 6 4 8 19 24 45 17th Woking 35 6 5 7 18 15 3 7 7 14 22 39 18th Stevenage 35 3 3 11 13 27 7 3 8 19 17 36 19th Burton Albion 35 2 8 7 11 19 5 7 6 17 22 36 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------20th Kettering 34 3 3 12 13 30 6 1 9 19 24 31 21st Hereford 35 4 3 10 15 27 3 6 9 13 23 30 22nd Nuneaton Borough 35 2 4 12 11 28 5 2 10 13 23 27

...I was pretty happy with the results and couldn't resist the challenge of Nuneaton Borough. Well who can?

9 points adrift and seemingly falling fast but with 7 games to go I can still see light at the end of the tunnel, I am ever the optimist.

I acted quickly to bolster our 25 man squad by bringing in two players on loan til the end of the season an AM RC from Mansfield and a SW/D RLC from Farnborough.

Both settled in relatively quickly with the AM RC scoring on his debut and my debut in the 3-0 away win against fellow relegation candidate Kettering and the SW/D RLC getting an 8 rating in a steady display at the heart of the defence.

I got a massive surprize on the 24.02.03, something I have never ever experienced before in any game. I got 21 players promoted from Nuneaton's youth setup  A couple look pretty promising players aswell and the majority look better than at least half of the current first team squad.

Its going to be an interesting run-in.

Nice twist Wag.

If I'm in religation trouble I work on the system that I will will hopefully two points per remaining games, so on my formula you'll end up with 45pts. You going to need a bit of help from the teams above to avoid religation, but good luck. Do you play any of the sides close to the religation zone on the run home?

...Must of known the first team needed some help. That is an amazing number of players promoted.

Cheers Taipan

Well the first two games have gone well. We've collected 6 points from them, to make it sweeter we beat Kettering(already mentionned above) and Burton Albion, both of whom are relegation candidates.

The run in is interesting...

06.04.02 Margate A 08.04.02 Morecambe H 13.04.02 Dag & Red A 27.04.02 Hereford H04.05.02 Southport A

Its going to be tough, especially with just one team to play who are in a similar situation to us.

On the youth front so far 12 of the 21 have agreed long term contracts. They will form the mainstay of my side in the next couple of years, should we avoid relegation that is...

Must be all the in breeding that goes on in Nuneaton!

Went to Nuneaton's ground when Stoke played there a few seasons ago. The coach driver couldn't find it and had to detour to a police station!

It was a hard fight at the bottom of the division, we accumalated 10 out of a possible 21 points, scoring 6 goals and conceding 6 goals. We picked up 3 wins, a draw and 3 defeats.

I think that if I had arrived perhaps 3 or 4 games earier then we would have stayed up and this sav. wouldn't be condemned to the mists of time. Sadly it wasn't to be and as I've only played 7 games I have no kind reputation and won't get another job in the foreseeable future I've decided to start again, same scenario, different side though...

BTW If anyone is getting a bit bored with champ I would recommend giving this a go, its quite challenging because you have so little time to bring players in and have to use what you are given and your tactical knowledge

Not quite as a big a challenge though in terms of points. Only 4 points in it this time but the squad is much smaller and the debt is ever increasing just over -£1,230,000 at the current time :Mr Burns: "Excellent"

Hereford United - 17.03.022001/2 Fixtures - The Run-In23.3.02 Kettering A Conference 30.3.02 Scarborough H Conference6.4.02 Forest Green A Conference8.4.02 Leigh RMI H Conference13.4.02 Stevenage H Conference 27.4.02 Doncaster A Conference 4.5.02 Nuneaton Borough H Conference

I think the four home games will be the key to our survival. All the teams above are beatable, just wether of not the current squad has what it takes well we shall have to wait and see....
