I acted quickly to boost the squad(of only 17 players at first :eek

bringing in two strikers on loan from conference clubs. They didn't really add anything though and when Northwich decided to sack their manager I swooped quickly to bring him in as a player/coach - his experience would be vital. I also added a 19 year old Scottish AM RC who had been found by my lone scout after being ditched by Coventry.
Strangely I got another influx of players coming through the youth set-up shortly after taking over, not quite to the degree of with Nuneaton though, just 7 this time. Must be something to do with the squad sizes and the imminent transfer deadline coming up...
My first game in charge started well, we raced into a 4-2 lead at Kettering after an hour(including a hat-trick from a 21 year old striker with bags of pace), but it wasn't to be as our fragile defence - already depleted by injuries capitulated and we conceded two late goals. So it ended 4-4, a vital point against a fellow struggler.
My home debut saw us grind out a 0-0 against 8th place Scarborough, another point and a cleansheet. We were however still bottom of the table we needed to start winning and soon.
We didn't got one we got two, the very next game gave us a 2-1 win over Forest Green, the pacey striker netting twice to move us up a place to 21st in the table. Not bad 5 points from a possible 9

things were looking up. We also beat Leigh RMI 2-0 in the next home game, the pacey striker getting another double but unfortunately getting sent off for headbutting someone and getting a 4 match suspension for it

...would we miss him? I thought so, afterall he had scored all our goals but two so far
We suffered our first defeat against Stevenage at home, falling 1-0, we were sunk right back into the mire but were now just points from scraping our way out of it.
A 2-2 draw away to Champions elect saw us move out of the relegation zone on goal difference and plunged Northwich rightback into it after they had had some decent form. It was going to go to the last game of the season. We were at home to Nuneaton and Northwich had Telford. We'd come this far and we couldn't throw it away could we?
You'd have thought not yea? well nearly, we fell quickly 2-0 behind and were struggling to come to terms with Nuneatons aggressive style, it just wasn't happening. We pulled one back late on so it finished 2-1 but we now had to count on other results.....

So 9 points from a possibly 21 would it be enough? Only time will tell....
